Key Concepts in Grammar Study 1. Grammar and Grammaring

LORIMAR Publishing, Inc. (2021)

Grammar is what one knows about a language

- the phonology, semantics and pragmatics

while language skills are what we do with

language including speaking, listening, writing

and reading (Bohemia, 2015).

Larsen-Freeman (2011) shared that grammar

is a skill rather than competence. In addition,

she referred Grammaring as the fifth skill.

"...the embedding into grammar (the taking on

Key Concepts in Grammar Study 4. Spoken vs. Written Grammar

LORIMAR Publishing, Inc. (2021)

The distinction between spoken and written

grammar is practically due to the fact that we

don't speak the way we write and we certainly

don't write the way we speak.

Speakers may commit grammatical errors

that can never be possible and acceptable in

written grammar.
