Tourism Industry

Travel and tourism has great association with other industries in the national economy making major
indirect earns and also enhances foreign investment, opportunities of trade, investments in private,
local development, and public infrastructure. Pakistan has rich potential of tourism due to its rich
culture, geographical and biological diversity, andhistory. Tourism has developed as an instrument for
creating considerable economic gains. The country has various tourist destinations at Swat, Malam
Jabba, Behrain, Kalam, Shangla, Balakot, Kaghan, Naran, Ayoubia,Murree, Chitral, Gilgit Baltistan, Hunza,
and Neelam valleys, other mountainous ranges, and historical and archaeological sites. Pakistan has
great potential and offers diverse opportunities for tourists, such as trout fishing in the glacial water of
Gilgit Baltistan and Swat rivers, Shandur Polo traditional tournament, paragliding, rock climbing, and
trekking in northern areas, Jeep and camel safari in the Cholistan desert, Wild Boar hunting, and
crabbing in the Arabian Sea.

Challenges’ Facing Tourism Industry

Absence of infrastructure

Where to stay?

Sociological challenges

Problem statement
There is no adequate infrastructure developed by the government
which might have been helpful for the tourists. For instance, in many
areas there are no roads and at some places roads are in poor
condition. Similarly, land sliding blocks all the roads sometimes and
there is no effective measure to let the people commute safely. Every
other tour operator will let you know that they have experienced some
serious and perennial challenges due to the absence of adequate
infrastructure. There are hotels and restaurants but in very limited
number.Local people in northern areas are generally good but overtly
protective of their own culture and have some unrestrained economic
interests which usually lead to exploitation of the tourists if they are
not accompanied by a tour operator. Has government made any effort
to make local culture inclusive or tourist-friendly? In my opinion, it is
ultimately the responsibility of the government (carried out through
district administration) to protect both the locals and the tourists

Although abundant literature exists to demonstrate the importance of business as a

distant exchange jobholder, very little is understood regarding however business
growth affects the economy of a developing country (LDC). This paper employs a
CGE analysis to demonstrate the potential contribution of business for economic
process in United Republic of Tanzania employing a SAM for 1992. The
effectiveness of business taxation and infrastructure development as vital ways that
to amplify the helpful impact of tourism is incontestable . The findings indicate
that business growth has substantial impact on the economy as shown by will
increase in real gross domestic product, total welfare and exports. Improvement of
infrastructure appreciably amplifies the consequences of business growth ANd
tourism taxation has an unambiguously favourable impact on government income
and welfare. As LDCs lack sufficient resources to reinforce growth, business
could give as a supply of government income to finance infrastructure comes that
may profit the economy as whole, yet as tourists

This paper examines the connection between little and medium sized commercial
enterprise accommodation enterprises and European tour operators. Leisure
“packaged” mass commercial enterprise and therefore the Mediterranean basin are
the most product and geographical contexts of reference. However, the potential
relevancy of the outcomes to alternative similar commercial enterprise
merchandise and areas isn't excluded. Focusing totally on SMTEs the study attracts
extensively from secondary analysis, whereas it conjointly employs the outcomes
of non-public interviews of SMTEs’ owners/managers on the Greek island of
Corfu. The paper portrays the present standing of the co-operation between SMTEs
and TOs by illustrating the benefits and therefore the issues two-faced by SMTEs’
owners/managers once addressing TOs. Finally, the study concludes by proposing
actions and policies that might be incorporated in SMTEs’ ways so as to strengthen
their negotiating position with giant tour in operation consortiums and ameliorate
their evident over-reliance on commercial enterprise intermediaries.

METHODOLOGY
The methodology I choose to collect data was through personal interviewing and
questionnaire filling in Pakistan and abroad through online and personal.

Primary Data
There are many researches done in the area of tourism related to marketing or
employment opportunities but so far there were no researches done on the fact that
why tourism arrival rate is declining day by day in Pakistan. For this purpose, I
designed a questionnaire to personally visit and meet the domestic and
international tourists in Pakistan and also abroad. I will interviewed 15 people in
Pakistan including men and women. 09 of them were international tourists and 6 of
them domestic. Questionnaire and interview helped me in determining the positive
and negative factors affecting the tourism industry in Pakistan .

Secondary Data
Secondary data can be collected from the following sources:.

1.word-of-mouth

2.Advertisment.

3.Brochures.

4.Magazines.
5.Television.

6.published books.

7.Internet.

8.News papers.

In order to verify the decrease in tourists arrival statistically, the best possible
solution for me was to visit the Ministry Of Tourism and PTDC.

This visit helped me to analyze and compare the performance of Pakistan tourism
industry in previous years and also compared its performance with its neighboring
countries like China and India in order to compare its global ranking, Regulatory
Frameworks, Business Environment and Infrastructure, Human Cultural and
Natural Resources etc.
