ALEXANDRA BURKE
Alexandra Burke was born in London in 1988, and started singing when she was only five. She first
appeared on stage at the age of nine, singing with her mother, who was also a professional singer.
Alexandra enjoyed singing on stage and she wanted to become a singer.
She left school when she was sixteen and worked as a singer. She performed in some big concerts
to raise money for charity.
She first entered the TV talent competition The X Factor in 2005. She didn’t do very well
because the judges thought that she was too young to be a star. Alexandra entered the
competition again in 2008. This time she won! Her first song, ‘Hallelujah’, was number one in
Britain for three weeks. She became a star!
