In September 2019, Salvadorans,
the largest group of TPS recipients, will be
revoked of their legal status in the United
States. 263,280 people now have until Sep-

mischaracterized album

Coming off the minimal electro
melancholia of 808s & Heartbreak,
Kanye West composes an orchestra
of maximal sounds on My Beautiful
Dark Twisted Fantasy. While 808s
opted for simple beats and autotune,
MBDTF utilizes a variety of differ-
ent musical instruments and tactics,
such as the minute long, single
piano note that introduces the track
“Runaway.” “Lost in the Woods”
perfectly samples Bon Iver’s
“Woods,” creating a flawless mix
of autotune and drums and “Blame
Game” contains a beautiful piano
chorus that will stick in the mind of
every listener. Every beat is different
and will mesmerize listeners with its
individuality and excellence.
The genius of MBDTF doesn’t end
with the beats; the lyrics are equal-
ly as excellent. Many critiques of
Kanye West might claim MBDTF
is his most narcissistic album yet.
Those critics are wrong. Although
West often discusses fame and
fortune, he does so in a way that
separates himself from the common
rapper discussing the same ideals.
Just like the beats, West’s lyrics
are maximal, often depicting fame
as an alternate reality, rather than
the simple accumulation of wealth.
This reality depicts Kanye West as
both a god and turmoiled mortal;
in some instances, West has all the
wealth and power he could want,
but, usually, this satisfaction creates
problems with relationships or inse-
curity. In many cases, West resolves
these problems through the accumu-
lation of more wealth, resulting in
a violent cycle that runs throughout
the entirety of the album.
In the wake of Kanye West’s recent
behavior, many may overlook
West’s discography as simply the
ramblings of a disturbed maniac,
but West’s music is much more than
that. All of West’s albums contain
new ideas and musical devices that
push the rap genre forward and My
Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a
great example.

stores are lining up to offer the
best deals. If you’re looking
for cute clothes, household
items, electronics, and more,
check out Target this Black
Friday. An already addict-
ing store, its large discounts
and deals will overflow your
shopping cart. This year, they
claim their discounted hover
board and flat-screen TVs will
be the center of attention. They
are predicted to have up to a
45% discount on all clothing,
from fancy dresses to pajamas.
If you’re more of a technology
person, head over to the apple
store and check out discounted
laptops and iPads. If you’re
looking to pick up a brand
new iPhone X at a stunning
price, you probably won’t get
it. However, they come with
loaded gift cards, and you can
pick up an older model phone

ale offers up to a 70% dis-
count off everything in store.
American Eagle has bargains
of 40-50% off everything as
well. Gap has deals of 50-60%

select clothing, but Old Navy
is predicted to have a sale
of up to 55% off everything.
If you don’t feel like doing
extensive shopping, planning
out your route, or camping out
at 5am, just take a walk down-
town. The main streets are full
of local boutiques and even
brand-name stores that will of-
fer great discounts. It is an op-
portunity to treat yourself and
try something new, whether it
be a hobby or a style. Check

find the best deals, and go with
a friend to make the experience

The Holiday Season

each year

Have you ever walked into a
store in early September and
been mischievously greeted by
a smiling snowman? Perhaps
the store you visited is centered
towards greeting customers
with a manically laughing
Santa. Either way, walking
through any aisle containing an
elf in November is enough to
generate nightmares for every-
one until the holidays. I guess
this is one of the downfalls of
living in a commercial society.
Maybe my anecdotes of holi-
day characters creepily jump-
ing out isn’t convincing you
that the coming of the holiday
season in September or late Au-
gust is too early. Well, consider
the fact Hallmark Channel airs
their “Count Down to Christ-
mas” and other holiday shows
before Halloween. To put this
in perspective, I was scrolling
through a list of channels the
other night, and stopped on the
Hallmark channel to witness
pumpkin carvings with tradi-
tional holiday characters! Well
I guess the Hallmark channel is
defying stereotypes by chang-
ing the traditional pumpkin
carvings from ghoulish ghosts
to Frosty the Snowman. If any-
one thinks I’m being to critical
of the holiday season coming
in September, which I probably
am, here are some key points
