Multiplication of Whole Numbers
by 1-digit Number
In multiplying a whole number by a 1-digit
number, multiply the ones digit first, then the
tens digit.
In multiplying the digits, if the product is 10
or more than 10, we need to carry the number
of tens to the next column. Then, we do the
same for the next digits.

Multiplication of Whole Numbers
by 2-digit Numbers
In multiplying a whole number by a 2-digit
number, we multiply first the number by the
ones digit then by the tens digit. Add the
partial products to get the final product.

Multiplying Numbers by 10, 100, and 1000

In multiplying a number by multiples of 10,

100, and 1000, just affix one zero to the
number if the other factor is 10, two zeroes if
the other factor is 100, and three zeroes if the
other factor is 1000.
