FACTS

In November 2106 was observed as one of the worst air pollution in history. The people of
the city including the applicant were forced to stay indoors during that period. It is important
to mention that one of the Hindi Daily Newspaper on 1.11.2016 has reported the PM 2.5 level
at 480 mg/m3 against the prescribed national standard for PM 2.5 is 10 mg/m3 and per
international standard PM 2.5 level at Meerut was more than 48 times which is lethal for
human health especially for senior citizens and young children who are more vulnerable to
the pollution. The school going children are severely affected by the menace of air pollution.
The Urban Local Body has also failed to enforce the Central Pollution Control Board,
construct guidelines to mitigate the air pollution generated from the construction activities.

PRAYER:-

It is submitted before this Hon’ble Tribunal that despite of such a disastrous condition no
action ha s been taken either by the district administration as well as by the respondent no. 4
(State Pollution Control Board). This Hon’ble Tribunal vide order dated 10.04.2015 in
Vardhaman Kaushik v. UOI & ORS. issued detailed directions to the authorities for the
compliance of The CPCB guidelines 2010.
