1. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of factors that influence cigarette and alcohol
use and strategies for prevention and control.

2. Performance Standards The learner demonstrates personal responsibility in the prevention of cigarette and
alcohol use through the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

3. Learning Competencies/ Objectives The learner analyzes the negative health impact of cigarette smoking
3.1 Discuss Getaway Drugs.
3.2 Know the Policies and Laws Regarding cigarette smoking.
3.3 Learn the dangers of mainstream, sidestream, or second-hand and third-hand

A. Reviewing previous lesson or Self-inventory

10. Are you afraid that if you speak out and ask a smoker to stop smoking or move
away from you, that he/she will laugh or get mad at you?

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Teacher will discuss the following:
 The dangers of mainstream, sidestream, or second-hand and third-hand
smoke.
*Then asked the following questions:
 What are the three smokes produced by cigarette smoking?
 Differentiate mainstream, Side stream and Third-hand smoke.
 Which is more dangerous among the three? How do you say so?
 Why are main stream, side stream, and third-hand smoke dangerous to one’s
health?
 What does EPA stand for?
