MF Commentary
The week that went by
Category Update - Equity
Markets continued to plunge after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said the
global economy is now in recession because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sensex and
Nifty closed with weekly losses of 7.46% and 6.66% respectively. The broader indices
managed to dodge the negativity in benchmarks with Mid cap losing 3.03% while
small cap was down by 0.93%. In Equity Mutual Funds, Pharma & Healthcare Sector
Funds outperformed amongst other categories with weekly average absolute return of
6.24%.
The 10 Year Indian Government bond yield increased by 17 basis points to 6.31%
from 6.14%in this week. In case of Debt categories in mutual funds, Money Market
Funds outperformed amongst the other categories with weekly average annualized
return of 11.14%.

The Finance Ministry has clarified that investors can invest in tax savings
instruments under 80C till June 30, 2020.
The government has reduced the rate of interest on 8 small savings schemes
by 70-140 basis points. These schemes include PPF Scheme, National Saving
Certificate, Senior Citizen Saving Scheme, Kisan Vikas Patra and Sukanya
Samriddhi Account Scheme.
