ENGINEERING DRAWING
I – B. Tech, CSE – II (2017-18)
ASSIGNMENT – I

1. A) Construct a scale of 1:4 to show decimeters and centimeters and long enough to measure up to 5 decimeters.
And mark on it a length of 3.7 dm.

b) Construct a scale of 1:40 to read meters, decimeters and centimeters and long enough to measure up to 6 m.
Mark a distance of 4.76 m on it.

2. A) A line AB, 50 mm long has its end A in both the H.P and the V.P. It is inclined at 30° to the H.P. and 45° to
the V.P. Draw its Projections.

B) A Point A is on the H.P and 40 mm infront of V.P another point B is on V.P and below H.P. The line joining
their front views makes an angle of 450 with xy. Find the horizontal distance between two point?

1. A) Two points A and B are in H.P. The point A is 30 mm in front of the V.P. while B is behind the V.P. The
distance between their projectors is 75 mm and the line joining their top views making an angle of 45° with xy.
Find the distance of the point B from the V.P.

b) A 70 mm long line PQ has its end P 20 mm above the H.P and 40 mm infornt of V.P. The other End Q is 60
mm above the H.P and 10 mm infront of the V.P. Draw its projections of PQ and determine its inclinations with
the reference planes

2. The top view of a 75mm long line AB measures 65mm, while the length of its front view is 50mm. Its one end
A is in the H.P. and 12mm in front of the V.P. Draw the projectors of AB and determines its inclinations with
the H.P. and the V.P. Also locate the traces.

3. A) Inscribe a pentagon in a circle having a 50 mm diameter.

B) Draw an involute of a circle of diameter 40 mm. Also draw normal and tangent at a point
100mm from the centre of the circle.
C) Construct an ellipse, when the distance of the focus from the directrix is equal to 60 mm and eccentricity
2/3. Also draw a normal and tangent to the curve at a point 35 mm from the focus.

6. a) Draw the projections of the given points below

i. Point A 10 mm below H.P & 15 mm behind V.P ii) Point B is 10 mm above H.P & 20 mm in front of
V.P iii. Point C is 35 mm above H.P & 25 mm behind V.P
iv. Point D is in the H.P & 30 mm in front of V.P
b) A Point P of the hyperbola is situated at a distance of 35 mm and 50 mm from the pair of asymptotes, The
asymptotes are perpendicular to each other. Draw hyperbola using orthogonal asymptotes method.

7. a) Draw a parabola of base 150 mm and axis 80 mm by tangent method.

b. Draw an epicycloids of a circle diameter 50 mm, which rolls outside a circle diameter 180 mm for one
revolution. Also draw a tangent and a normal to the epicycloids at a point 135 mm from the center of the
directing circle.

8. a) The major axis of an ellipse is 160 mm long and the minor axis 90 mm long. Find the foci and draw the
ellipse by `Arcs of circles method'. Draw a tangent to the ellipse at a point on it 25 mm above the major axis.
b) Construct a hexagon of 50 mm side using general method
