 Socialization of people for improving


business and financial activities across the
globe can be referred as globalization.
Socio- Culture of Globalization
 Globalization has a wide role to play worldwide. It has left
back its footprints at every sphere of life. Not only in India,
but the interchange of world views and ideas has resulted
in a major transformation of the lifestyle and living standard
of people globally.

 There is increasing interaction between people of different


countries. As a result food habits, dress habits, lifestyle
and views are being internationalized.

 Globalization has influence the culture of one country to


another country.
 As a result globalization has brought to India new
technologies, new products and also the economic
opportunities.

 MNCs are looking at India in a big way, and are making


huge investments to set up R&D centers in the country.
India has made a lead over other growing economies for
IT, business processing, and R&D investments.

 There has been both positive and negative impact of


globalization on social and cultural values in India. such
aspects are analyzed under the following heads.
Positive impact of Globalization on
Indian culture

 Globalization has allowed for the spread of


customes,language and products.

 Globalization has allowed for people to be able to attain


goods and services which are not previously available.

 It has allowed people to become familiar with the culture of


other country allowing for greater understanding.

 Marriage Values.
 Social Values.
 Adultery.
 Food, Clothing.
 Employment and the Agricultural Sector
Political impacts of globalization
on Indian:

• Far reaching political changes have arisen from


increased economic and social globalization, with
developing
• Newly developed economics becoming even more
dependent on the activities of developed economies
such as the US where there is a centralization of capital
and technical expertise.

• India has a consumer base of 1.14 billion people.
• India is the 3rd largest global telecom market.
• The mobile subscriber base has grown from 0.3 Million in 1996 to
over 250 million currently.
• India is likely to add over 200 shopping malls by 2010 and 715
malls by 2015.
o India is the world’s:
o 2nd largest two-wheeler market,
o 4th largest commercial vehicle market
o 11th largest passenger car market.
o Expected to be the 7th largest automobile market by 2016.
 DEFINITION of 'Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa.’

 The BRICS thesis posits that China and India will, by 2050,
become the world's dominant suppliers of
manufactured goods and services, respectively.

 While Brazil and Russia will become similarly dominant as


suppliers of raw materials.

 Due to lower labor and production costs, many companies


also cite BRICS as a source of foreign expansion
opportunity, and promising economies in which to invest.
Conclusion
 Globalization involves the diffusion of ideas, practices and
technologies and the increase of worldwide social relations
which link distant localities, significantly impacting on the
economic, social, cultural and political dimensions of nations
and its peoples.
 The recent recession has seen corporations and institutions
from developed nations moving their focus to developing
countries, particularly in the East.
 Cheap labor, relaxed industrial norms and the capacity to
shift base at short notice to countries with more favorable
policies have all significantly impacted on economic
globalization.
 Multinational corporations have shifted power away from
the nation state with their 'brand' globalization.
