Description of the activity

For Christians around the world, Holy Week is one of the main expressions of their faith.

One of the Colombian cities that undoubtedly welcomed and witnessed the traditional
processions of Holy Week is Pamplona. Located in the department of Norte de Santander, 75
kilometers from Cúcuta, the city relives year after year the events of the Passion, Death and
Resurrection of Jesus Christ with striking processions with shoulder steps and with the
activation of the Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods, which very well represents a rich Spanish
heritage that came to this American land and was immortalized in the Colombian city, a
celebration that in 2013 was cataloged Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

Holy Week in the city "has great participation of the faithful, with great fervor, with a great
sense of belonging," and "the heritage value of the city is noted during the holy days." Not
surprisingly, it is one of the busiest religious tourism destinations in Colombia during the
Senior Week.

The economy in Pamplona increases in tourism during religious holidays (especially Holy
Week) and the provision of services (accommodation, food, etc.).
