SHOULDER JOINT MOBILIZATION

 GLENOHUMERAL ANTERIOR GLIDE

Patient position ; Patient is prone position with shoulder at the edge of the table
and abducted to 90 degrees, elbow flexed to 90 degrees

Therapist position; standing on the mobilizing side .The mobilizing hand on

posterior humeral head while stabilizing hand holds mid humerus

Mobilization; Anterior forced applied by mobilizing hand to humeral head while

stabilizing hand applies gentle traction

Purpose; to increase shoulder extension and external rotation

 GLENOHUMERAL POSTERIOR GLIDE

Patient position; Patient is supine position with the shoulder at the edge of the table
,scapula stabilized by the table or towel roll ,abducted to 45 degrees and elbow
slightly flexed

Therapist position ; standing on the mobilizing side . The mobilizing hand on the
anterior humeral head and stabilizing hand supporting elbow

Mobilization ; posterior force applied by the mobilizing hand while stabilizing hand
on the traction

Purpose; to increase shoulder flexion and internal rotation

Patient position ; Patient is supine with the with 30 to 40 degrees abduction

Therapist position ; standing on the mobilizing side . The mobilizing hand grasps the
Distal humerus and stabilizing hand support scapula in the axilla

Mobilization; inferior force applied by mobilizing hand while the stabilizing hands
Hold scapula steady
Purpose; To increase shoulder flexion and abduction

 ACROMIOCLAVICULAR JOINT ANTERIOR GLIDE

Patient position ; patient is in sitting position

Therapist position ; standing postion on the mobilizing side behind the patient . The
mobilizing hand placed on posterior clavicle near joint line.The therapist stabilize the scapula with
thum along the scapular spine and fingers along acromion

Mobilization ; mobilizing imposes and anterior force to the clavicle

Purpose; to increaae joint mobility

 STERNOCLAVICULAR JOINT SUPERIOR GLIDE

Patient; patient is in supine position

Therapist hand ; the therapist is standing on the mobilizing side . The mobilizing
thumb and index finger on the proximal clavicle and the stabilizing hand on the sternum
Mobilization ; the index finger gives a superior glides to the clavicle
Purpose; superior glides depression

 STERNOCLAVICULAR JOINT INFERIOR GLIDE

Patient position ; the patient is in supine position

Therapist position ; the therapist standing on the mobilizing side . The mobilizing
thumb and index finger place on the proximal of clavicle and the stabilizing hand on the
sternum
Mobilization ; thumb applies and inferior force to the clavicle
Purpose; inferior glide increase elevation

Position ; the patient is in supine position

Therapist position ; the therapist is standing on the mobilizing side . The mobilizing
thumb and Index finger place on the proximal of clavicle

Mobilization; thumb and index finger lift the clavicle

Purpose; anterior glide increase protraction

Patient position; the patient is in supine position

Therapist position ; the therapist is in standing position on the mobilizing side and the
mobilizing index finger and thumb place on the proximal of clavicle
Mobilization; thumb applies a posterior to the clavicle
Purpose ; posterior glides increase retraction

 SCAPULAR MOBIILZATION

Patient position; the patient is side line position

Therapist hand; the superior hand of therapist is along the scapular of spine while the
inferior hand grasps inferior angle of scapula
Mobilization; mobilize the scapula in elevation , depression, abduction, adduction or
rotation by pushing the appropriate direction
Purpose; to increase the mobility at the scapulothoracic articulation
