GROUP-BASED FLIPPED LEARNING (REFLECTION 3)

Please reflect upon the learning process and experience that you have gone through in the

Group-Based Flipped Learning 5 (Role Play in Forum Activity)

You may use the following questions to help you in writing the reflection.

1. To what extent did the learning materials (videos, links, images) provided before class

(pre-class) help you and your group members to be prepared for the role play in forum

activity?

Di antara bahan pembelajaran seperti video, link dan images adalam bahan pembelajaran yang
berbentuk elektronik. Penggunaan bahan pembelajaran elektronik dalam proses pengajaran dan
pembelajaran adalah untuk menarik minat pelajar terhadap sesuatu topik yang akan mereka pelajari
dengan menimba pengalaman yang menyeronokkan dan teknik ini sangat membantu saya dan ahli
kumpulan untuk menambah ilmu dalam aktiviti forum yang dijalankan walaupun pada hari itu saya tidak
dapat hadir kerana kesihatan saya yang tidak baik. Saya telah memaklumkan pada ahli kumpulan saya
tentang kesihatan saya dan telah menyediakan nota kepada mereka sebagai bahan rujukan untuk
digunakan dalam aktiviti forum tersebut. Kami juga telah membahagikan tajuk-tajuk yang tersenarai
dalam email yang telah diberikan oleh Dr. Siti Nazuar dan Dr. Farah untuk kami huraikan isi-isi yang
terdapat dalam topik-topik tersebut. Selepas itu kami akan kongsikan nota kami dalam kumpulan
whattsapp group supaya ahli kumpulan dapat membaca dan memahami semua topic yang tersenarai.
Dengan menggunakan kaedah ini, ahli kumpulan kami dapat bekerjasama walaupun tidak semua yang
harus terlibat dalam forum tersebut.

Among the learning materials such as


video, links and images are electronic
learning materials. The use of electronic
learning materials in the teaching and
learning process is to attract students to a
topic that they will learn by having fun
experiences and this technique has helped
me and my team members to improve their
knowledge of the forum activity even
though I could not. came because of my
poor health. I have informed my team
members about my health and have
provided them with notes as reference
material for use in the forum activities. We
have also shared the topics listed in the
email provided by Dr. Siti Nazuar and Dr.
Farah allows us to explain the content of
those topics. After that we will share our
notes in whattsapp group so that group
members can read and understand all the
topics listed. By using this method, our
team members can work together, though
not everyone should be involved in the
forum.

2. What is your role in this activity? How you contribute to your group and to entire class

towards the implementation of this activity?

Saya berperanan sebagai pembahagi tugas dalam aktiviti ini. Saya telah membahagikan semua topik
yang diajar di dalam kelas dan googleclassroom untuk dikupas satu persatu isinya oleh setiap ahli
kumpulan saya. Setiap ahli kumpulan mempunyai tanggungjawab masing-masing untuk membuat nota
untuk setiap topic yang diberikan kemudian mereka harus berkongsi maklumat tersebut dengan ahli
kumpulan yang lain untuk memudahkan aktiviti forum dijalankan. Sebelum aktiviti ini berlangsung, saya
telah dilantik oleh ahli kumpulan saya untuk menjadi ahli panel dalam forum tersebut memandangkan
semua ahli kumpulan tidak bersedia untuk menjadi ahli panel dalam forum tersebut. Namun disebabkan
oleh masalah kesihatan saya pada hari itu tidak stabil, maka ahli kumpulan saya yang lain telah
menggantikan saya untuk ahli panel yang mewakili ahli panel guru cemerlang. Saya berpendapat
bahawa nota yang telah dikongsikan itu akan memudahkan ahli kumpulan untuk lebih memahami setiap
topic dengan baik sekaligus melancarkan proses berkomunikasi sesame ahli panel dalam aktiviti forum
tersebut.

I play a part in this activity. I have divided


all the topics taught in the classroom and
googleclassroom for each member of my
group to cover. Each group member has the
responsibility to make notes for each given
topic and then they must share that
information with other members of the
group to facilitate forum activities. Prior to
this activity, I was appointed by my group
members to be a panel member in the
forum as all members of the group were not
prepared to be members of the forum.
However, due to my unstable health
problems that day, the rest of my group
replaced me with a panel representing
excellent faculty members. I think that the
shared notes will make it easier for group
members to better understand each topic
as well as streamline the process of
communicating with panel members in the
forum activities.
3. To what extent did role play in forum activity implemented in-class help you to improve

your thinking skills to master the topic?

Sepertimana yang kita ketahui, aktiviti forum ini bukan sahaja untuk menguji pemahaman seseorang
namun aktiviti juga dapat meningkatkan daya pemikiran kiritis seseorang itu. Pelbagai soalan yang
diajukan mampu menyebabkan seseorang itu berfikir di luar kotak dan mampu mengaitkan topic-topik
tersebut dengan dunia reality yang sebenarnya. Secara tidak langsung aktiviti forum ini sebenarnya
mampu meningkatkan kemahiran berfikir saya dan ahli kumpulan untuk menguasai topic pembelajaran
walaupun ia masih kelihatan santai dan menyeronokkan. Seperti contoh soalan yang berkaitan
pendidikan alaf 21, pelajar bukan sahaja perlu memahami maksud ‘pendidikan alaf 21’ namun pelajar
juga harus mengaitkan contoh-cotoh aktiviti dan teori yang merujuk dalam pendidikan alaf 21.

As we know, this forum activity is not only


to test one's understanding but also to
enhance one's thinking ability. The many
questions asked can make one think
outside the box and be able to relate those
topics to the real world. Indirectly this
forum activity actually enhanced my
thinking skills and my team members
mastered the learning topic even though it
was still fun and enjoyable. Like the
examples of millennium education 21
questions, students not only need to
understand the meaning of 'millennial
education' but students must also relate
examples of activities and theories that
refer to the education of millennials 21.
4. How did Google Classroom facilitate the implementation of group-based flipped

learning?

(Bagaimanakah Google Classroom membantu dalam pelaksanaan group-based flipped learning?)

As we know, google classroom is a free web service, developed by Google for schools, that aims to
simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. The primary purpose of
Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.
While group-based flipped learning is a model focuses on group learning. After the students
have studied the material provided, they work together on assignments during
the classroom time. The students learn by explaining concepts to each other, which improves
retention.
Google Classrooma is a new platform to help teachers and students communicate better, as well as
make, collect and track classroom assignments. The app is part of Google's Apps for Education line
which uses Docs, Drive and Gmail to make assignments in and out of the classroom easier to
maintain. Usually Dr. Siti and Dr. Farah will give us a learning material uploaded in Google
classroom.

Where we are required to understand,


discuss and comment on the questions
raised on the topic. In addition to the
discussion within the apps we also have to
discuss in the group and if you still don't
understand we can refer our instructor to
get the right assurance as we are required
to create a slide presentation in the class
on our topic. This slide presentation can
help other students understand the topic
we are describing as well as make it easier
for them to reference in the examination as
well as in the real world so the information
presented should be accurate and relevant.
5. Overall, how can group-based flipped learning improve your thinking skills?

Based on the finding and observation, it concluded that utilization of the group-based flipped learning
method improved the students' higher-order thinking skills and engagement on post-test than pretest.
Also, it increased students' level of satisfaction regarding the learning process of group-based flipped
learning than traditional learning. Overall, group-based flipped learning can develop critical thinking and
information searching process. After searching the information needed, I usually will discuss back with
my group member and if they also do not understand I will looking forward to our lecturer to get the
better answer. Indirectly, we will a better understanding and gain a critical thinking process during our
discussion and talk beside of increasing also out communication skill. These activities will help us to
improve our confidence level in gaining and delivering information.
