1. Make a description of English Consonants and give examples?

Consonant, which comes from the Latin word consŏnans, is an adjective used to
indicate a voice with respect to a different one that has the same consonance. For
phonetics, consonant is the sound that, at the moment of being pronounced,
produces an interruption of the flow of air that expires or generates a shrinking of
the vocal canal that causes the sound to come out with frication.
For example: "The teacher began to teach us the consonants", "Sometimes I
confuse the orthographic rules linked to certain consonants, like M-B or N-V", "The
children first learn to recognize the vowels and then the conson.
2. How many consonants does English have and write them ?

En el alfabeto anglosajón hay 21 consonantes en inglés


que conforman 24 sonidos de consonantes en la mayoría
de los acentos en inglés. Debido a la historia de la lengua
inglesa, no hay una relación ordenada de un acento a otro
entre letra y sonido. Por ejemplo,”th” y “ch” representan
cada uno un solo sonido, y “x”, por ejemplo en la palabra
“box” (caja) representa dos sonidos (ks).

“Y” se utiliza a menudo como una consonante, pero a


veces se usa como vocal. Por ejemplo, en la palabra del
color amarillo (yellow), ‘y’ es una consonante. Pero en la
palabra feliz (happy), ‘y’ es un vocal.

El resto de las letras del alfabeto se llaman vocales. Hay


cerca de 20 sonidos de las vocales en la mayoría de los
acentos en Inglés.
