WHAT IS TRAUMA? WHAT EFFECT DOES TRAUMA

Trauma results from an event(s) that is
experienced by an individual as Reading difficulties
physically or emotionally harmful or life Lower grade point average
threatening and that has lasting Increased school absences
adverse effects on the individual's Higher suspension/expulsion rates
functioning and mental, physical, social, High drop out rate
emotional, or spiritual well-being. Higher risk of mental health
concerns/problems

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE TRAUMA-INFORMED?


To act in a way and/or to provide services to clients that "facilitates
the improved functioning of those negatively affected by trauma"
(Ridgard, Laracy, DuPaul, Shapiro, & Power, 2015)
