Machinery and Equipment Function

Excavator - used for many purposes like heavy lifting,
demolition, river dredging, cutting of trees.
Backhoe - useful for excavating trenches below the
machine level and using front bucket loading,
unloading and lifting of materials can be
done.
Bulldozers - used for the removal of weak soil or rock
strata, lifting of soil

Loaders - used to load materials such as rock sand and

gravel
Graders - used to create a flat surface.
Dumpers -designed for carrying bulk materials
Tippers -a machine that can be raised at the front end
to enable the load to be discharged.
Wheel Borrow - used to transport bulk weights of materials
like cement, sand, concrete mix etc..

Trowel - used to lift and apply the cement mortar in

small quantities.

Tile Cutter -used to cut tiles.

Earth Hammer -used to level the surface.
Float - used to smoothen the plastered concrete
surface.

Drill Machine - used to make holes in the walls, doors,

window frames etc.

Concrete Mixer - it is used to deliver the perfectly mixed

concrete.

Straight Edge Brushes - used to provide finishing to the plastered

surface.

Spirit Level - used to check the level of the surface.

Putty Knife - used to level the putty finishing and also

used to reduce the thickness of finish when it
is more thick.

Polisher - used to smoothen the surface of tiles or

wood works
Measuring tape - used to check the thickness lengths, widths
etc.
Mason’s Square - used to achieve perfect right angle at the
corner of the wall.
Plumb Bob - used to check the verticality of structures.

Ladder -to check slab work, to transport materials to

the higher floors, to paint the walls etc.
Saw -used to cut the wood materials.
Electrical Tester -used to check wires and outlets to see if they
have live electricity running through them.
Measuring Box -used to measure quantities of cement
aggregate or mortar to create a proportional
mix of mortar and concrete.
