How far a human being is allowed from an installed

base station antenna? Why in your opinion?

Who sets standards?
1) World Health Organization(WHO)
2) American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
3) International Electro-technical Committee (IEC)
4) International Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP)
5) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE)

How far a human being is allowed from an installed base station

antenna?

According to the NTRA , the distance between the human and the station is not less than 6 meters in the direction of
the main beam and it is better for playgrounds of children’s schools to be around 20 meters

Why in your opinion?

Just for precaution, if it will affect in the long run

Generally, it is not affect the body or cause cancer for the following reasons

1- the energy level of radiofrequency (RF) waves is relatively low , The energy of RF waves given off by cell
phone towers is not enough to break chemical bonds in DNA molecules, which is not lead to cancer.
2- Wavelength of RF has long wavelength , it is not dangerous it is called “"non-ionizing” radiation ,
short wavelengths that are damaging, beginning with Ultraviolet light, that can cause sunburn and
melanoma, or even shorter wavelengths, like X-Rays and shorter still gamma rays, which can be lethal.
Many effects for the safe distance for humans :
-Number of antennas in BS.
- Frequency(the higher the radiating frequency, the higher will be the radiated energy).
- antennas tilt ,main beam(can change the plane of radiation and therefore concentrate high RF
radiation in the direction of the tilt).
- The height of the tower and the antenna.
- Exist line of site or not.

The safe distance from a mobile phone tower is not an objective answer. There are multiple factors that
affect mobile radiation intensity. As a thumb rule, anyone in 150 metre radius could be under risk. And if
the tower is 300 metres or more distant, this could lead to weak coverage – leading to signal drops.
(tradeoff).
