In 1977, at dawn of the criminology psychology and of criminal profiling within the

FBI, agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench are going to speak with multiple serial killer. Together,
and with the help of the psychologist Wendy Carr, they will try to identify the personality of
numerous killers in order to acquire the necessary knowledge to resolve criminal cases.

Since I am a big fan of neuroscience, human behavior, ways of thinking and psychology,
this show broadcasted on Netflix caught my eye. Indeed, each episode is almost dedicated to
another criminal case and another mind to solve. This show taught me that to solve a crim we
have to understand the killers state of mind. A criminal is not born criminal, but he become one
due to his relatives. Their behavior is probably the main reason of his issues.
For example, we know that a man or a woman that in his/her childhood endured violence
(beaten, raped…) this person will probably have multiple sequelae. They will generate issues
in his/her adult life for sure. Growing up being harassed by your relative is the worst case,
because they are building a depressed and mentally instable person.
A criminal does not act by pleasure, but they act to be listened. They want people to be
interested in them in order to be loved or comforted for the first time. That is why in the show
we can see that criminals are pretty calm and friendly at first sight.
This show is really approaching this subject like that so you can have empathy for the
criminal and be more invested in each stories.
