A. Research Design

The study employs an idiographic and nomothetic type of explanation. An idiographic

explanation attempts to showcase a conclusion for a specific context. In this study, insights that are
context-specific to the Philippines are to be identified. Since a nation brand is unique to one's country,
this study is idiographic in this sense. However, the study is nomothetic in the sense that the study
gathers generalizations about the key factors and actors in crafting a nation brand. These conclusions
can be applied to any context as they are the foundation for crafting a nation brand.

The data needed for the study are documents that show the country's nation brand, such as
newspapers, historical documents, and actual articles created for the country's nation brand. The study
also needs to look at the Philippines's efforts in crafting a nation brand in order to locate its progress.
Basically, the study requires direct and documentary data sources.

As a result, the research design utilizes secondary data analysis and Key Informant Interviews
(KII) to extract the information. Specifically, the research instruments used will be checklists and
interview questionnaires.
