PART 1. DIRECTIONS:

 Follow the link https://esol.britishcouncil.org/content/learners/skills/speaking/food-fridge and listen to the


description of Food in the Fridge. You will find the transcription of the food description down the page. Study the
way in which the food description has been organized into small paragraphs.
 Open YOUR refrigerator and take a picture of the food there is in it. If you don’t have much food in your fridge,
describe the food items you NEED to buy at the supermarket.
 Write a SIMILAR description (NOT EXACTLY DE SAME) to the one presented on the website, but using the food
items YOU have in your fridge or that you NEED to buy at the supermarket.
 Write your description in a double-spaced Word page. You can use this Word page to return your work.
 Use A/AN, SOME, ANY, MUCH, MANY, A FEW, A LITTLE and A LOT OF/LOTS OF in your description. Write complete
sentences as in the model description.
 Follow the original model to have an idea of the number of words you need to write. Also, as in the original model,
write a concluding sentence at the end of your text.
 Remember to include / attach the picture of your fridge to your work, even if it is empty or almost empty.

PART 2. DIRECTIONS:

listen to the description of a Market Stall. You will find the transcription of the Market Stall description down the
page. Study the way in which the Market Stall description has been organized into small paragraphs.
 Find on the Internet a picture of Supermarket Section where you can see people choosing / buying food. Use the
description of the Market Stall to write a SIMILAR description of your picture of a Supermarket Section. You can
always include information you think is useful to your description.
 Write your description in a double-spaced Word page.
 Because the picture you choose is different form the picture presented as a model on the website, you need to
adapt the information and structures to the situation presented in YOUR picture.
 Use SIMPLE PRESENT OF TO BE in AFFIRMATIVE, NEGATIVE AND INTERROGATIVE STATEMENTS; PRESENT
CONTINOUS / PROGRESSIVE in AFFIRMATIVE, NEGATIVE AND INTERROGATIVE STATEMENTS. Write complete
sentences as in the model description. Note: Two examples of interrogative statements (one of To Be and one of
present continuous) are sufficient in you text.
 Remember to include / attach your picture of a Supermarket Section to your work.
PART 3. MY FAMILY’S NEW ROUTINES DURING THE QUARANTINE

DIRECTIONS: With the government’s mandatory quarantine, we all had to change, in one way or another, our daily
routines. Complete the chart describing your immediate and extended family’s’ daily routines BEFORE and DURING the
quarantine. Write 4 sentences using TO BE in affirmative and negative sentences. Write the other 6 sentences using
dynamic verbs in affirmative and negative sentences. Compare the family members’ routine BEFORE and DURING the
quarantine. Look at the examples in the chart. Adapt the family members to your own family. You can also write about
your best friend, boyfriend and/or girlfriend.
