Moldboard Wear Strips May be Hard to Install on Certain 24M

Introduction
CaterpillarTM is aware of the following problem and a permanent solution has been identified.

If the following problem occurs during field repairs, use the solution identified in this Technical Information
Bulletin.

Problem
Due to the tolerances for moldboard rail maximum thickness and moldboard wear strip minimum opening,
the following condition may occur:

The moldboard wear strips on the listed 24M Motor Graders may be difficult or impossible to install due to
interference with the moldboard rails.

1. If a moldboard wear strip (A) does not fit over the moldboard rail (B), begin by replacing with a new
wear strip.

2. If the moldboard wear strip (A) does not fit after replacing with new, modify the wear strip to improve
fit.

Remove 2 to 3 mm (0.08 to 0.12 inch) (C) of material from the inside surface of the short leg of the
wear strip. Maintain a smooth radius at the inside corner of the modified leg.

Note: Do NOT remove material from the moldboard rail.
