INTRODUCTION :

Marketing is exciting, challenging, and rewarding. It offers many great career opportunities
in areas such as public relations, product and brand management, and export and
international marketing.

The main reason behind this project report is to study the career prospects after MBA in the
field of Marketing, also to study the role of MBA in one’s life in marketing. This study
focuses mainly on MBA in Marketing and its importance.

MBA in Marketing is one of the most common fields when it comes to pursuing a course in
business administration. As is in the name it is all about marketing and that involves
promotion of the products that a company manufactures and developing an understanding
about the behavior of the consumers and their respective demands. It is also one of the
most challenging fields as it is never easy to understand human nature. MBA in Marketing is
almost always the first preference of the candidates as the job opportunities are many along
with the advantage of exploring varied sectors that it provides. The real skills revolve around
the ability of the candidates to be good at playing with words so that they can convince
people around them.

INDIAN EMPLOYMENT SCENARIO


Employment levels in India have been virtually stagnant or declined for the last two decades and
women's exclusion from rural labour markets remain a potential concern.

Central Banks are known for avoiding needless controversies and shun all publicity and the Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) is no exception to the rule. With the world economies in considerable disarray
since 2008 and whether they like it or not, central bank policies are being closely watched all over
the world for possible clues as to the movement of key banking rates. Saddled with a meaningless
Budget, a clueless 12th Five-Year Plan and a Central Government that is totally rudderless and bereft
of sane administrative acumen, the country limps along, waiting for new scams to erupt and more
self-goals scored by non-entities masquerading as leaders. Never before has the common man been
so thoroughly alienated from the government. It is increasingly clear that the government is clueless
about halting the rapid down-slide of the Rupee and all eyes are on the new RBI Governor to make
his mark amidst a set of doomsday economists. The growth of employment in India suggests that
there has been a decline in the rate of growth of employment at current daily status basis, from 2.7
percent in 1983-1994 per annum to 1.07 percent per annum in 1993-94 to 2000. The growth rate of
GDP on the contrary was higher with respect to growth rate of employments. There has been a
decline in the employment intensity.

The 55th Round of NSSO survey suggests that Growth Rate of employment was associated with a
decline in labour force. The decline in the absolute number of unemployment (expressed in terms of
unemployed as a percentage of labour force) increased during 1994-2000.

Agriculture is the largest sector, where most of the people are employed. During 1994-2000, there
was a near stagnation in the growth rate of employment in agriculture, which declined from 60
percent in 1993-94 to 57 percent in 1999-2000.

Organised sector Employment:

Among the total workforce 8 to 10 percent of the workforce of the country is employed in the
organised sector. There was an increase of employment in the private organised sector after
economic liberalisation.

Public sector employment accounts for more 67% of total employment in the organised sector, so
with the more or less non-recruitment syndrome prevailing in the public sector for last one decade,
the growth in the organised sector employment has not increased in absolute terms.

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
 The main objectives of this study are to know about the trends of job running in a
particular sector.
 It is also helpful in analysing about the employment in india.
 It will help the individual person to know about their competitors who are seeking to
proceed in their sector
 It will help to choose best out of several alternatives.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

1. Facilitates planned production: forecasts of probable sales in the coming years.

2. Discovery of causes of consumer‟s resistance: It helps in identifying the reasons


for consumer resistance to existing or new product

3. Correction of defects: It reveals defects and therefore makes corrective action possible.

4. Reveals the nature of demand: It brings out whether the product is in constant
demand throughout the year or has a seasonal demand.

5. Effectiveness of existing channels of distribution: For example, in the case of TVs


it may be discovered that after sale service is not satisfactory. Then, arrangements may be
made to remove such grievances of the customers.

6. Product utility: It indicates why exactly the product is being purchased by the people
and what exact service do they get out of it. For example, a market research conducted by
Hindustan Lever Ltd., revealed that their „Sunlight Soap‟ which was originally intended to
serve as a washing soap, was being used as toilet soap by many people.

7. New uses of the product: Marketing research may reveal certain new uses for the
existing products.

8. Market information: It provides complete information about the market and the
changes that are likely to occur in demand for a certain product.

9. Discovery of potential market: It provides information about the possibility of


potential (future) market.

LIMITATION OF STUDY
 The first disadvantage of marketing in general is the cost. Adverting and marketing
costs money. If you don‟t do the proper research then you might end up throwing
money away.
 As well as the financial cost, marketing your business will require investment of time
 It‟s important to spend time keeping track of how successful or not your marketing
campaign is.
 A potential disadvantage of marketing here is the risk of time wasted for an
unsuccessful campaign.
 Research shows that people in general have to see a piece of information between 3
and 30 times before it sinks in.
