The study measured the diversity and abundance of butterfly species in and around the Alipurduar College campus in West Bengal, India. A total of 35 butterfly species from 8 families were recorded in the study area. The Pieridae family had the most species with 9, followed by the Nymphalidae family with 8 species and the Papilionidae family with 5 species. The high number of butterfly species recorded in a short time and small area indicates good biodiversity in the campus, which could be preserved through biodiversity restoration and management strategies to ensure the sustainability of butterflies and ecosystem services.
