First of all, there is a beautiful ayah from our beloved Kitab, The Holy Qur’an.

‫ني إِاَّل‬ ِ ِ ُ ‫آن ما هو ِش َفاء ورمْح ةٌ لِْلم ْؤ ِمنِني ۙ واَل ي ِز‬

. ‫خسارا‬
ًَ َ َ ‫يد الظَّالم‬ َ َ َ ُ َ َ َ ٌ َ ُ َ ‫َونَُنِّز ُل م َن الْ ُق ْر‬
(17:82) And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but
it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss
Maybe people will ask, “ya, I know Al-Qur’an can healing our dark heart and softening
that. But, do it can healing our trauma and injury too? And if I have stroke, diabetes, high blood
pressure, can Al-Qur’an healing all of my sickness like those?”. So I will answer, “Ya, It does.
Al-Qur’an will heal your heart and all of your body sickness”. How it can be? It can because if
there is a man that always recite Al-Qur’an every day, and apply the order in Al-Qur’an, so Insha
Allah, he will get closer to Allah and get the muttaqien and auliya degree. And you know, that
Allah doesn’t like if there are slaves from His auliya’ (beloved slave) feel the sickness, so is it so
easy for Allah to make a doctor meet with that auliya’, then the doctor will treat that auliya’.
Yeah, first that, Al-Qur’an is medicine of the medicine. So, Al-Qur’an is can not be separated
with the medical science. Then we have to know what is the relationship between this deen and
this science that talk about medicine
Doctor is a profession that work for humanism, whatever which country the patient from,
whatever which tribe the patient from, whatever which religion the patient believe, if you are
what people call you with “Sir Doctor”, you must try to recovery that patient. In Islam, our

beloved prophet Sayyidina Muhammad said: ُ‫علَّمه‬


َ‫و‬ َ َ ‫ َخْي ُر ُك ْم َم ْن َت َعلَّ َم اْل ُق ْرآ َن‬and ‫الناس‬
*ِ ‫َخ ْي ُر‬

ِ ِ‫ أَْن َفعُ ُه ْم ل‬. This hadith tell to us that Islam really considers in humanism and in al-Qur’an.

After that, why a muslim doctor have to understand about this deen, especially in fikh.
Because a man can get permission to do shalah by sitting, or by lying down, if the doctor said,
“Sir, please, your body is not enough to hold your body to stand up, you can do your shalah by
sitting”. And there are still many examples that we will not discuss here.
Then, the relationship between doctor and patient is so unique. Maybe there is patient
that do shalah infrequently, many ustadz have give their best advise for that patient to do
shalah frequently, but the patient is still do shalah infrequently. But, If their doctor say, “Sir, if
you want to get healthy quickly, beside take up your medicine, you have to do shalah
frequently, especially in jama’ah”. And what will the patient do ? only take the medicine and
do not shalah? Take medicine and do shalah!
Last but not least, al-Imam Muhammad bin Idris Asy-Syafi’I rahimahullah said:

*ِ ‫ب لِلْألَبْ َد‬
‫ان‬ *ِ َ‫الديْ ِن لِلْأل َْدي‬
ِّ ِّ‫ان َو ِعلْ ُم الط‬ ِ ‫ ِعلْم‬, ‫ان‬
ُ
ِ ‫إِمَّنَا العِلْم ِعلْم‬
َ ُ
Indeed knowledge is divided in two grup, ilm deen for religion and ilm thibb for body
So amazing, Al-Imam rahimahullah want to tell us that medical science is so important,
and there are many glory in this science, but the people who knows that glory is only the
people who see that glory. Are you ready for being the part of this glory?
