Green PTA Board Meeting Minutes

Call to Order: 6:00pm via Zoom Conferencing

Attendees: Jen Andrassy, Katrina Vernon, Lisa Brown, Christina Conchilla, Sarah McMillan, Lisa Ashworth, Leigh
Tull, Tracy Nunez, Noel Kathleen Little, Joseph Andrassy, Jill Nelson

Absentee Board Members: Cynthia Crowdus, Terrance Ruth, Kiara Ruth and Allison Hodges

● COVID-19 Update
o Dr. Brown: Remote learning link from District was sent out this week. Email contained lots of district
level learning More will be posted the Monday after Spring Break. Questions coming from
staff/teachers about internet access. Sprint and School District are communicating to help with the
internet to ALL families via Hot Spots. Getting devices in students to do digital learning. Spring break
is 4/6 thru 4/10. Preliminary closure is thru May 15th. No information about extending the school year
and EXAMs have been cancelled via NC Dept of Education. Graduations are still planned.
o How can the PTA best serve our staff and students at this time? - Take care of families first. Teachers
are struggling from face to face learning to digital learning. Stay with what we have as far as
resources. An abundance of internet devices in building. Plan forward and plan 2020-2021.
Celebration for 5th grade MIGHT be the only thing but that is too far out to predict anything.
o Lighthouse​ - Leader in Me would be next year October/November 2020.
o Budget ​- Wake County PTA Council about extending deadlines for uses of spending and calendar
flexibility.
o NC Ties​ - the teachers who signed up for the training, need to be reimbursed. ​ACTION:​ Contact
Cheramine for reimbursement for the teachers.
o Additional Chairs​ - one additional rack for large events. School could not be purchased. DR.
BROWN- give Supply Catalog recommendations to PTA for purchasing.
o Mrs. Falcone purchases -Lightening adapted/Dongles. POs are being processed!
● Determine plans for Spring events (cancel, reschedule, virtual, etc. and what refunds to request)
o Staff training (planned to be covered by PTA) CANCELLED
o Spring International Festival 4/25 CANCELLED
o Mobile Dairy Farm 4/30 - CANCELLED
o Staff Appreciation week May 5 through May 8 - Digital gift cards nothing in the building. Ideas for gift
cards: Target, Amazon or restaurant. Kitchen Table at Relish, Irregardless, and other possibilities
o Super Kids Day May 8 - CANCELLED
o 5th Grade Graduation 6/12 - we are not sure at this point
o Spirit Nights - Cancelled
o Leadership Nights and all other events.
● Budget Adjustments
o Jen will talk with Katrina in more detail about budget adjustment
o All other purchases and reimbursements must be given by 5/15. If not that will need to wait till next
year.
● Nominating Committee Update
o Christina Conchilla - accepted position of VP.
o Leigh - has given an update on how most people would accept positions of committee chair.
o Virtual voting - Wake County PTA Council and get their advice. ​ACTION:​ Jill, Survey possible?
o Need treasurer for next year - possible upcoming candidates
● Open Floor:​ Request - 4/1/2020 Building will be open to parents to pick up ONLY medications. 11-3pm.
Custodians in buildings doing a deep clean.

● Lisa Ashworth:​ Questions about reimbursements should go to Tracy Nunez and Katrina Vernon. Jen will
send out Katrina’s email out to teachers.

● Spirit Week: ​Caroline Mitchell had contacted Jill and Tracy about Spirit Week. We will post this via
FB/Instagram/Twitter and email

● ​Science Fair: possible digital event via Carolyn Mitchelle
