1. Explain the following terms

2. What are the three approaches to evaluation – briefly explain them.
3. What is the hybrid approach to metadata?
4. Give three questions to consider in purchasing digitisation equipment.

Part B: Answer any 1 from the following 2 questions. Part B counts for 40% (1 x
40%)

5. "A local departmental store has asked you to advise on developing a plan for
selecting and prioritising material within its collections of catalogues from
1890 to present day with a view to making these available digitally. As an
expert advisor discuss the components of your plan, including the key
selection and prioritisation questions the department store should ask itself.

6. You have been asked to draw up a Digitisation Strategy for the Glasgow
Woman’s Library. Explain the key issues that would need to be included in
such a document, making reference to:
i. the main aims and target users of the digital collections;
ii. the process of identifying available materials and the types of
material likely to be included in the collections;
iii. the selection of items that will be digitised;
iv. the appropriate digitisation method for each, and;
v. the links of the digitisation chain in this particular case.
