Abstract :Byadagi kaddi variety performed better over Dyavanur local chilli during storage. Among the containers, seeds stored
in sealed container like aluminium foil recorded significantly higher seed germination (82.83%), field emergence (76.67%), root
length (6.85cm), shoot length (6.38cm), vigour index (1076) and lower seed leachate values (1.579 dSm-1) followed by the seeds
stored in 700 gauge polythene bag compared to the seeds stored in fruit form, cloth bag, paper bag and polythene bag (400 guage)
through out the storage period. The storing of seeds in fruit form also recorded superior seed quality parameters at the end of
storage period. The seeds of Byadagi kaddi variety stored in aluminium foil recorded significantly higher seed quality parameters
throughout and also at the end of 20 mmonths of storage period compared to Dyavanur local variety seeds stored in all these
containers.
