➢ Verb - describes an action, state of

something, or occurrence
➢ Examples: Is, go, play, playing.
Adverb - modifies verb: Play nicely.
➢ Common noun - identifies a class of
people, places, or things
➢ Examples: Martians, houses, books

➢ Proper noun - specific thing names

that’s doing or being something
➢ It is referred to as “verbed”

➢ Example: Alex is a nice instructor.

➢ Conjunction - and, but, for, or, nor,

so, yet
➢ Proposition - of, to, for, with, on, at
