The document provides procedures for testing an oily water separator in port. The 10 step process includes shutting valves, disconnecting pumps, flushing the system with water, introducing dirty water to trigger alarms at specific ppm thresholds, operating test buttons to check warning lights and valves, and reconnecting equipment once testing is complete. The purpose is to ensure the separator and monitoring system are functioning properly when required by inspecting authorities.

ORIANA TESTING OILY WATER SEPARATOR
PROCEDURE FOR TESTING OILY WATER
SEPARATOR IN PORT (Static) (When required by Inspecting Authorities) (068)
1) Ensure oily water separator overboard valve is shut and locked
2) Disconnect power supply to electric motor of separator pump in local control panel 3) Switch separator on and observe start of backflushing sequence 4) Once in normal discharge mode, flush through 15 ppm monitor with non potable water by positioning the change over cock in the flushing position and opening the potable water supply cock 5) Disconnect separator discharge supply line to monitor and fit funnelled pipe to top of change over cock 6) Position change over cock to normal operating position, and pour dirty water into the funnel until the monitor display indicated rising ppm 7) Observe first and second stage alarms (30 second delay between them), and at second stage alarm observe change over of solenoid valves to recirculating mode 8) Flush through monitor with non potable water as per step 4, observe change over back to normal discharge operation 9) Depress test button on panel for 5 seconds, observe red oil warning light to come on and oil dump valve to operate, release test button and observe yellow warning light to come on, oil dump valve to close and backflushing solenoid valves to operate 10) Observe separator to return to normal discharge condition, switch off, replace pipework and reconnect pump motor
