Chapter 2: Know Yourself to Market Yourself

CAREER ACTION WORKSHEET

2-4 Self-Assessments and Career Planning
Complete a self-assessment about your career interests and/or your personal traits.
Start with the O*Net Interest Profiler, a self-assessment tool, by visiting
www.mynextmove.org and clicking the “Start” button in the “Tell us what you like to
do” box. There are other assessments available on the web. Consider using the free
online version of the mini Myers-Briggs Type Indicator quiz and/or the Keirsey
Temperament Sorter (https://profile.keirsey.com/#/b2c/assessment/start). See Chapter
2 Web Links in MindTap for other web resources.

List at least two things you discovered after taking a self-assessment.

Discovered that I need a job that is going to allow me to be creative and come up with
new things or create exciting things daily

That I might like teaching in some way to be a career path down the road

Explain why your career choice is a good match with your personality and
interests.
Being in culinary arts allows me to deal with a form of art which is what I have been interested
in my whole life. I played in band all of school and sang in choir. I also took as many art classes
as I could. I also love teaching and or training people because it makes me feel more confident
with myself and my career choice. Also being able to show people why I love cooking/baking or
why I love the job and that they should too is important to me. Also again just getting to be
creative every day in the creations that I make is what I really love about the job and bringing
people together with good food.
You will be adding the results of the online self-assessments and the completed
document to the “About Me” section of your Career Builder Files.
