Interpretation:

The art piece I chose was “City Life” by Aïda Muluneh. I chose to pair it with the song
“BROWN SKIN GIRL” by Beyoncé, SAINt JHHN, Wizkid, and Blue Ivy Carter. I paired these two
together because they radiate the same powerful energy. They give off similar vibes of
independence and confidence. The circles behind the lady in the picture, remind me of the
rhythmic drum pattern in the song. I feel like they compliment each other well.

Information:
“City Life” was created in 2016. It’s medium is pigment inkjet print. It’s currently located
on the second floor MoMA in the photography department. This art piece is included in a
collection by Aïda called “The World is 9,” which was created for the exploration of life, love, and
history. AÏda is questioning the life we live in as people, as nations, and as beings. This art
piece is a reflection of conscious and sub-conscious manifestations of time and space.

Presentation:
This art piece displayed is called “City Life” by Aïda Muluneh and was created in 2016.
Aïda believes that life is unpredictable and imperfect. That we must conquer these challenges
with strength and endurance because the world within us and the world knocking on our door,
bears the unknown future. With that statement in mind, do you believe this title fits the painting?
Do you agree with Aïda that life is unpredictable and imperfect?
