(below is adapted to online learning)

- After students look through examples that other students across the US have been doing with creating hearts they will
go through (with an adult*) how you can create two different hearts using two types of methods for cutting out hearts.
- During the creation process, and after the students have drawn out their heart shapes on the paper, they can proceed to
cut out the hearts, creating either one or two hearts. Allowing for them to make multiples for artistic choices later
during the decoration process.
- After students can start to design and decorate on top of their hearts. Thinking about the essential question posed for
them in the slideshow, “Who is this heart for the window for?”
- After decorating and designing their hearts, the students will be able to hang them either in the window of their
home/apartment or somewhere in the house so that people can see their hearts.

Pre-assessment: How will you help the students know where the unit is going and what is expected? Help the teacher know where the students are
coming from (prior knowledge, interests)?

(Adapted for Online learning)

- During my time at the school during the two weeks, I was able to see the Kindergarten and First grade ability at
cutting paper.
- A all school pre-assessment was done at the start of online learning, where we evaluated what materials the students
may or may not have at home, this was also used to determine who could do the project.

Motivation: How will you hook all students and hold their interest? Ideation: How will you equip students, help them experience the key
ideas, and explore the issues to generate ideas for their art work?

Instruction: How is the lesson organized to maximize initial and sustained engagement as well as effective learning? Provide opportunities to rethink and
revise their understandings and work? Allow students to evaluate their work and its implications? Include literacy and numeracy?
