1. SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
Please ask your customers bringing all of AV Speaker Bar, Wireless Subwoofer and A
Remote Controller when bringing in the product for repair since total system
operation check is required even if partial failure is suspected.
(The Remote Controller is used at manipulation for operation check and at service
mode but bringing-in the Remote Controller is not required if the service center has
the similar Remote Controller.)

1.1 NOTES ON SOLDERING


B

• For environmental protection, lead-free solder is used on the printed circuit boards mounted in this unit.
Be sure to use lead-free solder and a soldering iron that can meet specifications for use with lead-free solders for repairs
accompanied by reworking of soldering.

• Compared with conventional eutectic solders, lead-free solders have higher melting points, by approximately 40 ºC.
Therefore, for lead-free soldering, the tip temperature of a soldering iron must be set to around 373 ºC in general, although
the temperature depends on the heat capacity of the PC board on which reworking is required and the weight of the tip of
the soldering iron.

Do NOT use a soldering iron whose tip temperature cannot be controlled.

Compared with eutectic solders, lead-free solders have higher bond strengths but slower wetting times and higher melting
temperatures (hard to melt/easy to harden).

The following lead-free solders are available as service parts:


• Parts numbers of lead-free solder:
GYP1006 1.0 in dia.
GYP1007 0.6 in dia.
GYP1008 0.3 in dia.

3. BASIC ITEMS FOR SERVICE


3.1 CHECK POINTS AFTER SERVICING

Items to be checked after servicing
To keep the product quality after servicing, confirm recommended check points shown below.

seconds.

* CONNECT LED of Wireless Subwoofer lights in blue.
12 Check the appearance of product. No scratches or dirt on its appearance after receiving
it for service.

3.2 HOW TO CHECK AIR LEAKAGE


1. How to Confirm
After assembling the product, please confirm whether abnormal hissing or vibrating sound is heard from the product or

not through trial listening on 63Hz or 80Hz Sine Wave sound source with 35 - 40 of main volume and around 0 of subwoofer
volume. The sound source is available from Service Web Site (Nlis).

2 Sine Wave; 80Hz, -10dB (File Name: 80Hz_-10dB_60sec.WAV)
 How to Confirm
(1) Obtain the sound source from Service Web Site (Nlis) and save it in a USB flash drive
(2) In case of SBX-N700, Setting  Audio Output  Subwoofer Setting to be [Built-in].
(Return to the original setting after confirmation)
(3) Insert the USB flash drive into USB port of the product and play the appropriate sound source with USB function.
(4) Confirm whether abnormal hissing or vibrating sound is heard from the product or not through trial listening with
35 - 40 of main volume and around 0 of subwoofer volume.

2. Location where air leakage is happened easily after disassembling / assembling work. (Confirmation points)
Please confirm whether air leakage / chattering noise is existed or not with listening by ears, palm holdup or approaching
lips on around the engagement part of Front Panel and Rear Case, on around location where there is the tendency of air leakage
mainly as shown on the figure below; (Lips are easy to detect abnormality since lips are more sensitive than palm holdup.)
If air leakage is terrible, wind noise (hissing sound) is heard.
If abnormal sound is heard, apply additional tightening on screws around, adjust mounting or repair damaged EVA Sheet.
Location where air leakage is easily happened due to breakage or everted of EVA Sheet, etc.

If there is any imperfect screw tightening, forgetting screw tightening, etc., wind noise may be generated from screw
holes as shown on the figure below;
If air leakage is terrible, wind noise (hissing sound) is heard.
If abnormal sound is heard, apply retightening on screws at corresponding location and adjust mounting.

All screw holes from where screws are removed at Rear Case disassembling:
Air leaks due to imperfect screw tightening, etc.

Complement
If abnormal noise generated location is unable to specify with the previous confirmation, please check the around of Subwoofer Unit.
Caution is considered to be loose screws of Subwoofer Unit, Grille or everted of EVA Sheet.
(Periphery of Subwoofer is the location hard to specify air leakage due to abnormal noise or air flow.)

How to detect error signal for AMP protection


The following two kinds of AMP protection signal are defined according to the state of the above-mentioned port.

MCU monitors /SD signal every 10 msec, and protection is applied when MCU detects "LOW"

(2) Peel off the three EVA Sheet from the Rear

Refer to the photograph for pasting positions of EVA Sheet, cushion, etc., and layout of Sound Absorbing Material.
• When you close the Rear Case ASSY, be careful of cable pinching.

7. EACH SETTING AND ADJUSTMENT


7.1 UPDATING OF THE FIRMWARE
A
 How to update using the USB flash drive
1. Prepare update file,SBXN700_V00.XX.bin, SBXN700_MCU.bin, DLdiscidentifier_MCU.txt and put these in
root directory of USB flash drive.
2. Insert USB flash drive on AV Speaker Bar.
3. Turn on AV Speaker Bar.
4. Press SETUP key and “Initial Setup” is displayed.

5. Select in the order Options Update USB Storage

6. Waiting few seconds and press ENTER key. D

7. After displaying completing massage, AV Speaker Bar is


automatically rebooted and update is finalized.
