Activity #6

Answer the following situations and state the article written in the legal bases of the
Philippine Educational System that supports your answer:

1. Should a teacher accept a child if they don’t have any payment for their
tuition fee? Why or why not?
- The law states that "education is for all', that is why we have a lot of public
schools. This is to cater students who cannot afford to go to a private school.
If the parents decided to enroll their child in a private institution, it is just right
for them to pay what they owe to that school. But then, a teacher must accept
a child even if he/she wasn't able to pay his/her tuition. The teacher’s job is to
teach and accept all students who wants to learn. There are persons in
authority whose job description is to collect payments and definitely this is not
a teacher's job.

2. Who has the right to choose their profession or course of subjects? Why?
- The student has the right to choose and decide what profession he/she wants
in the future. Student will be motivated if we allow them to choose what they
want to pursue.

3. Do you think that students have the right to establish, join and participate in
organizations and societies recognized by the school? Why or why not?
- Yes. Learning does not only happens in the four corners of the classroom. By
joining and participating in the different organizations recognized by the
school, this will help them see what is happening in reality. They can apply all
the learnings they got in the classroom into a real life situation.

4. Who are the persons in authority in school? Why?

- Articles 148 and 151 of this Code, teachers, professors, and person changed
with the supervision of public or duly recognized private schools, colleges and
universities, and lawyers in the actual performance of their professional duties
or on the occasion of such performance shall be deemed person in authority.
Because Authority is the power or right to give decisions and enforce
obedience.
