Which of the following is
Neo- Primitivism or
Fauvism? Explain why.
NEO-PRIMITIVISM
a Russian art movement initiated by Paul
Cezanne. a new style of modern painting which
rages elements of Cézanne; Cubism and
Futurism with traditional Russian 'folk art'
resolutions and ideas.
CUBISM
-movement was pioneered by Georges Braque
and Pablo Picasso
-The artists discarded perspective, which had
been used to portray space since the
Renaissance, and they also turned away from
the lifelike modelling of figures.
-Cubists explored open form, piercing figures,
and objects by allowing the space flow through
them, combining background into foreground,
and displaying objects from several angles.
FUTURISM
-was an artistic and social movement that
originated in Italy in the early 20th century.
-It highlighted speed, technology, youth, and
violence, and objects such as the car, the
airplane, and the industrial city.
-It represented the technological conquest of
civilization over nature, and they were
passionate nationalists.
FAUVISM ART
-the artist's instant experience of his subjects,
his emotional reaction to nature, and his
perception were all more important than
academic theory or higher subject matter.
-The leaders of the movement were Henri
Matisse and André Derain
-The paintings of the Fauves were
characterized by apparently wild brush work
and vocal colors, while their subject matter
had a high degree of interpretation and
concept.
