# Subject: For follow-up emails, you’ll reply to your original message and it will

retain your original subject line

Dear Professor Valdez:

I’m writing to follow up on my email I sent earlier this week regarding a question
I have about the [name of assignment / exam]. I look forward to hearing from
you.

Best regards,

# Dear Dr …

This is a follow up of my original communication send on 16 December. I fear that I might have sent it at
the least convenient time, given that it was probably the end of the fall term.

Let me take this opportunity to assure you that my interest in collaborating with you was both sincere and
enduring. That collaboration could take the form of an independent study or volunteer work on one of
your research projects.

I would welcome a chance to discuss possible opportunities at length, perhaps by phone, or perhaps in
your office.

Attached is a brief CV to highlight some of my interests, abilities and experiences, as well as a list of
personal and professional references.

Sincerely,

# Here is the short and best follow up email you can ever write to someone.

Dear (Name),

Greetings!

Just wanted to check, if you got a chance to look into the below email I sent you yesterday (You can even
mention the date)

Hope to hear from you soon!

Regards,
(Your Name)
If you follow up with these kinds of emails, there are some chances you can get a reply from the other end
soon as it shows that you are eagerly waiting for their reply.
# Dear Professor Smith,

Recently I wrote to you about a research position in your department/school/faculty. Please may I have
a reply to my email of 13 November 2018 so that I may know the outcome

Yours sincerely,

zahurul

I would use the ‘forward’ function and send my original email (just in case it got lost), placing this
message above it.

# Don’t overthink it, he did ask you to email him. Keep your email short (one or two lines). Wait until
mid-end November and reply to the previous email with something like

Dear Professor Dr.

I’m still interested in the ….. project and just wanted to follow up with your previous email from
February to see if you have any update about the research project and funding.

Best Regards

zahurul
