First Day of School!

Upcoming Events
Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of teaching your

child. It is such a pleasure to have your child in my Parent Teacher Conference
classroom!

The first day of school is always a great opportunity to get

to know your child and their goals for the school year. Father Daughter Dance
Although the nerves might have been high, it is my goal

Math
Students were able to share interesting facts about them while
creating mathematical problems. The trick is that the fact must
be a number (favorite number, age, number of people in family,
how many states you have been to etc.) Once students decided
on the fact that they wanted to share they created a
mathematical problem that resulted in the answer of their fact.

I am a firm believer in incorporating brain breaks throughout
the day. On the first day of school I demonstrated to students Email-
how they work. I have what we call a Brain Break Bucket. This cdcoppin@noctrl.edu
allows students to grab a stick out of the bucket to see what
activity we will be doing for a brain break. Some examples may
be doing a crab walk, jumping jacks, yoga, or Simon says.

I think it is so important for students to get out of their seats

and stay active during the school day. There is a lot of research
that shows that brain breaks help students focus, stay
motivated, and gain energy. I am open to more ideas of using I am always available to

community for all students in the classroom. On the first day of
school we did a little team building activity to help students get
comfortable with each other as they will be working together for
the remainder of the year. Students created two circles. They
interlocked their hands with their classmates across from them
in the circle. Students worked together and collaborated to
reach the goal of becoming untangled.
