The Importance of Continuing Professional Development and How I Plan to Incorporate It

Throughout My Career

Throughout my college career, I have learned a plethora about early childhood and

elementary education. All the information I learned has helped me plan lessons, connect with the

students, and be an overall better educator. During some of my college observations, I enjoyed

going into classroom in the middle level. Eventually, I would love to become certified to teach

children this age.

To make myself a well-rounded educator in the middle level, I would take classes about

their development. I also know that children go through a lot of changes and how it can be

stressful for them. So, I would also enjoy taking physiology and guidance classes. I would

choose to specialize in mathematics. I enjoy all of the subjects, but my favorite is mathematics.

Through the courses in the middle level education degree, I would learn how to teach at this

level, but also different skills, like technology integration.

To incorporate this learning into my career, I plan on taking summer, online, or night

classes. Many schools offer classes for teachers and those who are limited on time. All teaching

jobs require their teachers to continue their education. Through this time, I could earn my degree,

thus extended my degree range. With this range, I can be more valuable to the district I am

employed with.

With the addition to earning my degree in middle childhood education, I also plan of

continuing professional development by being a part of education corporations, like NAEYC.

Having a degree does not mean that you have the latest news and findings in education. Being a

part of educational groups can assure that I am up-to-date with the latest and best in educational

practices.
