IDD Design Worksheet

Filling out this worksheet should help you to organize your thinking about the design of your
individual ID topic.
As you fill in this worksheet, you will be learning how to use the information that you gathered
during the analysis phase to plan your learning solution.

Brief Introductory Info

Provide information in this table to give the briefest idea about your topic. This will likely be the
same as in your IDD Analysis Worksheet. If so, just duplicate that information here.
Your Name Amanda Berry
Your IDD Topic Employee Engagement Surveys and Analysis
Organization (Where the learning Monterey County HR
solution will be implemented)
Learners (Target Audience—it’s Primary: Managers and Supervisors of all Departments

primary audience and a secondary employee relations and performance within their
audience) department. Managers will be provided with resources
(i.e. websites, journals, and interactives) to increase
performance or satisfaction in areas of need as identified
from data. They will then create an action plan through
the use of SMART goals.

Learning Objectives
Write four learning objectives that would be relevant for your learning solution. Write two
declarative and two procedural objectives. Review the objectives handouts and samples before
you do this. Writing good objectives may be harder than you think. Write each objective and
then break it into pieces to fit into the tables, with the correct part in each column.

Test Instruments
Write four test items, one for each objective above. For the declarative objectives, you should be
able to write multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, or essay questions. For the
procedural objectives, you may want to describe a performance test.
1. Choose a strategy from the list given below then construct a timeline based on the
strategy.

2. Employee Engagement Survey scaled scores are: 0-2.99 =Low Engagement, 3.00-
3.79=Medium Engagement, 3.80-5.00=High Engagement. Survey results showed an
average response score of 3.1 out of 5 in response to the statement, “Management has
communicated a vision for the future that motivates me.” Please describe the Engagement
Strategy you would use to improve this score and why.

3. When provided compiled survey data of department areas of improvement, Management

and Supervisor teams will be tasked to rank them from one to five in order of priority.
One being of utmost priority to five being not as high of a priority. Teams will be
observed by the Employee Engagement Supervisor to assess on a scale of 1-5 how
effectively teams prioritized areas of need and improvement.

Media and Delivery System Decisions

Delivery Format(s)
Identify the delivery format you plan to use: classroom, online, synchronous, asynchronous, self-
study, and/or instructor led. Explain why you chose this format.
The delivery format for this training will be asynchronous. All materials will be available

digitally with the option to be presented in-person or assigned individually. The flexibility of

implementation is ideal due to the wide audience and skill level variety it is intended for. The

County consists of 25 different departments and agencies. Each department and agency vary in

size and location.

Media
Note the types of media you will use, for example: audio files, display boards, print materials,
real objects, slides, video, visual aids. Explain why you made these choices.
1. Digital database of Employee Engagement Strategies- This allows for all Managers

and Supervisors to access the same material and create continuity across the County.

2. Visual Job Aids: Visual aids such as handouts and/or small posters that describe

Engagement Strategies are beneficial to Managers who seek to reach their teams in a

more personal setting.

3. YouTube videos about employee engagement and engagement strategies. Videos are

easy to find time to watch for employees who may be unable to attend a meeting.

They can also be watched at various speeds as well as being re-watched in whole or

parts to aid comprehension.

Instructional Strategies and Activities

Agenda
Provide an agenda for the module (this can be in list form). Don’t forget to include an
introduction and a summary. Remember that your IDD design should be for about 1 hour of
instruction (so this agenda should not be terribly long). It’s a great idea to note about how long
you think each item will take in the agenda.
Your agenda should go here:
1. Introduction and Rationale (5 min)
2. Video ‘HR Basics: Employee Engagement’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=g9HjuA1JF18 (9min)
3. Group discussion sharing thoughts about the video (5 min)
4. Group activity creating a poster that defines employee engagement with words and
pictures(5 min)
5. Groups share their posters with one other group (5 min)
6. Video ‘Employee Engagement Strategy’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=HNr4tE74xUE (3 min)
7. Groups discuss existing strategies and rank them according to success criteria (5 min)
8. Video ‘The SMART Goal Formula’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jWQXtK0rNg
(8 min)
9. Groups will be given a set of data to analyze, discuss, and create an effective SMART
goal based on data (10 min)

10. SMART Goals will be written on the board and discussed as an entire group as to
whether they will be effective or ineffective (10 min)
11. Summary (5 min)

Major Teaching/Learning Activities

Describe the major teaching/learning activities for your module (for example, readings,
presentations, demonstrations, matching activities, case studies, or other types of practice and
assessment).
For example, if you are planning an activity where learners in teams solve questions related to a
case study, then provide a sentence or two to describe how you envision the learners interacting
with that case study.
Choose the major items from your agenda, and describe them in the following table. If you need
more rows, put your cursor in the right-most column of the last row and press your tab key.
Agenda Item
(Teaching/Learning
Activity) Topic Description
Engagement poster Employee The students will create a poster with their
Engagement group that shows their understanding of what
Employee Engagement is. The poster should
include a definition and pictures that display
their understanding of EE. The poster created
will be copied and distributed to participants to
display in their office as a visual reminder of
Employee Engagement.
Rank activity Employee The students will discuss current strategies they
Engagement are using to increase Engagement based on
Survey areas of need determined from survey data
analysis. Keeping success criteria in mind,
groups will rate strategies based on
effectiveness.
Goal creation SMART Goals Groups will create their own SMART goal that
focuses on one area of need determined from
survey analysis.
