If you see “More detail” on your page, it means you need to add
more details about:

● why you chose this quote,

● add more from the article to make it clear what you’re talking
about in the quote you’ve chosen
● or add something more to your central idea sentence.
Common Things to Fix
2. Missing Pieces

Remember, each evidence box should have both:

1. A quote directly from the article to support your central idea

sentence, and
2. The quote, or piece of evidence, in your own words.
Common Things to Fix
1. Missing Conventions
● Double check to make sure that you’ve used punctuation and
full sentences.
● Make sure that you’ve used quotation marks around the title
of the article. It is important to give credit to the author and it
helps to show that it is a title.

3. Central idea sentence does not match

If you see a circle next to your central idea sentence, it might

mean that your central idea sentence does not match your
evidence.

To fix this, you need to add details about your evidence into your
central idea sentence to broaden your central idea sentence.

4. Evidence does not match
If you see circles next to your evidence pieces, it might mean that it does not
match your central idea/ is not a main idea.

To correct this, you might need to:

● add more detail to make it match
● or choose a new piece of evidence entirely.
