STEPS TO RESTORING BABY BALD SPOTS

Clean Scalp: Healthy hair grows from a properly

cleansed scalp but in a bid to keep the hair clean
we don’t want to strip baby’s hair of all the sebum.
Sebum is an oil-like substance secreted by the
sebaceous glands that keeps the skin and hair
moisturized. It is recommended to shampoo hair
once a week.

Condition: Be sure to follow through with a

conditioner (rinse out or deep conditioner) after
every shampoo; this will make baby’s hair soft,
pliable, replenish the natural oils (sebum) and
moisture stripped away during shampooing.
Conditioner only needs to be left in for 3-5 minutes
and rinsed out thoroughly (This can be started as
early as 4 months).

Moisturise: Apply a leave-in conditioner throughout

baby’s hair, focusing on the bald areas. Avoid
combing but if you must, please use a wide tooth
comb.

Scalp Massage: This is where the magic happens.
Seal in moisture and massage scalp twice daily
using a light carrier oil of choice also focusing on
the bald areas. This will help stimulate blood flow in
those areas, thereby encouraging growth.

Tummy time/Sleeping position: Make sure baby

spends some time on her tummy every day. In
addition to giving the back and sides of her head a
break, tummy time is essential for your baby’s
overall physical development.

Use a Satin or Silk Headrest: Always lay a satin

headrest/ sheet wherever she lays/rests her head e.g
crib, car seat, baby seat.

Results and length of time where actual results
will be seen, may vary from baby to baby based
on genes, consistency and choice of products
used. If you require help with product
recommendation, selection or sourcing, do
contact us. It is also important to note that
babies require very low manipulation styles,
therefore tight puffs, combing with narrow
tooth combs and usage of accessories with
metal hinges and sharp edges should be
completely avoided.
