Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple compound in Central Java in Indonesia, located
approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta.
The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the largest Hindu temples in
south-east Asia. It is characterized by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu
temple architecture, and by the 47m high central building inside a large complex of
individual temples.
It was built around 850 CE by either Rakai Pikatan, king of the second Mataram dynasty,
or Balitung Maha Sambu, during the Sanjaya Dynasty. Not long after its construction, the
temple was abandoned and began to deteriorate. Reconstruction of the compound began in
1918. The main building was completed in around 1953. Much of the original stonework
has been stolen and reused at remote construction sites. A temple will only be rebuilt if at
least 75% of the original stones are available, and therefore only the foundation walls of
most of the smaller shrines are now visible and with no plans for their reconstruction.
The temple was damaged during the earthquake in Java in 2006. Early photos suggest that
although the complex appears to be structurally intact, damage is significant. Large pieces
of debris, including carvings, were scattered over the ground. The temple has been closed
to the public until damage can be fully assessed. The head of Yogyakarta Archaeological
Conservation Agency stated that: “it will take months to identify the precise damage”.
However, some weeks later in 2006 the site re-opened for visitors. The immediate
surroundings of the Hindu temples remain off-limits for safety reasons.

Uncle Weng remembered that Liwei’s birthday was just round the corner and wanted to
buy a special present for him. He took some time off, about two days before Liwei’s birthday to
look for a suitable present for his nephew.
First he drove to Parkway Parade but he was not satisfied with what he saw. Liwei would
soon grow out of age for toys. Uncle Weng also knew that Liwei’s aunts would be buying books
for him. So none of those things would do! Hence, he decided to look somewhere else.
Uncle Weng then went to Chinatown to scout around for something that would last.
Finally he saw certain items which he felt could be useful to Liwei. He chose one and asked the
man to wrap it up.
On Liwei’s birthday, two of Liwei’s aunts gave him book vouchers, another gave T-shirts
and Liwei’s cousin gave him a skateboard. When Liwei saw what Uncle Weng bought him, he
was overjoyed and clapped his hands in delight. It was a junior microscope!

A butterfly is a mainly day-flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, the butterflies and
moths. Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly's life cycle consists of four parts,
egg, larva, pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies have large, often brightly
colored wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. Butterflies comprise the true butterflies,
the skippers and the moth-butterflies. All the many other families within the Lepidoptera
are referred to as moths.
Butterflies exhibit polymorphism, mimicry and aposematism. Some, like the Monarch,
will migrate over long distances. Some butterflies have evolved symbiotic and parasitic
relationships with social insects such as ants. Some species are pests because in their
larval stages they can damage domestic crops or trees; however, some species are agents
of pollination of some plants, and caterpillars of a few butterflies (e.g., Harvesters) eat
harmful insects. Culturally, butterflies are a popular motif in the visual and literary arts.

The first thing the men discovered was that the moon is covered with gray dust. The dust is so
thick that the men left footprints wherever they walked. Those were the first footprints any
living thing had ever made on the moon. And they could stay there forever! There is no wind
or rain to wipe them away.
The two astronauts walked on the moon for four hours. They picked up rocks for earth
scientists to study. They dug up dirt to bring back to earth. They set up machines to find out
things scientists wanted to know. Then they climbed back into their moon-landing craft.
Next day the landing-craft rockets roared as the two men blasted off from the moon. They
joined Michael Collins in the space ship that waited for them above the moon. Then they
began the long trip back to earth.

Maura, who liked to be thought of as the most beautiful and powerful queen of Arabia, had many
suitors. One by one she had discarded them, until her list was reduced to just three sheiks, all equally
young and handsome, rich and strong. It was very hard to decide who would be the best of them.
One evening, Maura disguised herself and went to the camp of three sheiks, as they were about to have
dinner, and asked them for something to eat.
The first gave her some leftover food; the second gave her some unappetizing camel’s tails; the third
sheik, who was called Hakim, offered her some of the most tender and tasty meat. After dinner, the
disguised queen left the sheiks’ camp.
The following day the queen invited the three sheiks to dinner at her palace. She ordered her servants to
give each one exactly what they had given her the evening before.
Hakim, who received a plate of delicious meat, refused to eat it if the other two could not share it with
him, and this act finally convinced Queen Maura that he was the man for her.

An earthquake (also known as a tremor or temblor) is the result a sudden release of energy
in the Earth’s crust that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are recorded with a seismometer,
also known as a seismograph. The moment magnitude of an earthquake is conventional
reported, or the related and mostly obsolete Richter magnitude, with magnitude 3 or lower
earthquakes being mostly imperceptible and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large
areas. Intensity of shaking is measured on the modified Mercalli scale.
At the Earth’s surface, earthquakes manifest themselves by shaking and sometimes
displacing the ground. When a large earthquakes epicenter is located offshore, the seabed
sometime suffers sufficient displacement to cause a tsunami. The shaking in earthquakes can
also trigger landslides and occasionally volcanic activity.
