Winter by William Shakespeare analysis

This poem consists of two stanzas with nine lines in each stanza. In this poem, Shakespeare gives a
description of the extremely cold winter happened in Europe in that time. in addition, this poem also
provides examples of activities and conditions that only occur in winter whether the conditions are good
or bad. In the line 1 “When icicles hang by the wall”, it says that the weather is extremely cold. The
authors describe how cold the weather by saying the ice that hangs down from the roof. In the line 2 “And
Dick the shepherd blows his nail”, it talks about the effect of the winter to a person. We have image for
feeling. Dick, who is a shepherd, suffers when he is sitting in the outside due to the cold and he tries to
warm his hands.
