STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Since I was a child, I have always idealised a society of morals and justice. My family has
devoted themselves to the domain of law for generations now. I believe, this passion is in my
blood. And it is this passion that strives me to excel academically, knowing that I want to
become someone who wants to stand up for others. Every citizen of this country is entitled to
their fundamental rights, and I want to make sure no citizen is ever stripped of their rights. I want
to attend the National Law School Bangalore to specialise in Civil Rights and follow my passion.

The episodes of injustice are everywhere, burying themselves in the minds of the young.
As a member of the Legal Aid Clinic, I have worked with young kids to encourage them to
believe in judiciary and administration. The rural people are still clueless about how to fight for
themselves against the exploitation they face by the ones in power. They do not have access to
lawyers to guide them and protect them. I am determined to remedy this situation. The law
follows the principle of treating everybody equally. I believe there is no equality when sixty
percent of the population is not being paid the respect of being a citizen they are.

The university will give me the resources and exposure I need to become a successful civil
rights lawyer. It will train me with guidance I need to manoeuvre between the tricks of civil
rights litigation, while striving for justice to the citizens. I will look forward to work under and
with the experts of the field and colleagues who have similar interest and want to contribute to
the cause.
