I am confused in design of shell & tube exchanger. in process Top Contributors in this Group
data sheet there is a table related to depressurization
temperarure of tube side. should I consider this temperature in
mechanical design?

Patrick Yes, but "consider" does not necessarily mean calculate. It can mean "compare to the other
scenarios and determine what is governing". Often the largest temperature differentials (tube vs Charles Miller,
shell) govern the design. But for all I know differential pressure could be the governing condition. iman jafari, and 8

In brief summary: imagine the circle of lawyers you would gather if you didn't consider this
temperature and there was some mechanical problem...

1. MDMT for the tube side. You need to check if any any other MDMT value is provided in the scientific communities
datasheet for the design temperature. If another value is provided for MDMT @ design to promote, share and
disseminate state-of-
temperature, you need to check if these depressurization temperatures govern for MDMT
the-art pressure
considering MDMT/ impact test reduction as allowed in the code for the corresponding pressure/ technologies, relating
stress. to power generation,
sustainable energies,
2. If not a floating head or 'U' tube exchanger, larger differential temperature of shell and tube side and petrochemical

may generate excessive stresses and bellows may be required. 1h ago

Unless you check it by design, you can not consider the effect of the same. Christopher Wright P.E.

Again this is me. I have some questions
as listed below: 1) How to seperate Pm
Yes, all operating case need to be considered and most governing to be used in mechanical

Vivek design. available to do it?.. 2) How Pm and Pb

Yes of course it is common for mechanical design. The Tempreture of the tube side that is Oakley Where can I find a
Ivory provided through MDMT just like Sanjeev said it does matter on type of tubing if it is the U tube or fabricator for some elliptical
the floating head design look at the API 510 has the tempreture chart for both design but i am not heads? 50mm A516 70 and

clear on if you talking about the heat exchanger or the pressure vessle side of design both will beSuggested discussion
