From the study of Deuteron we came to know about the
properties of nucleon - nucleon interaction 1. Around 40 MeV of Well depth is required for producing Deuteron bound ground state 2. The nuclear force is mainly Central in nature. 3. But Electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole moment of deuteron impart the non-central character to the nuclear force. 4. Due to the non existence of excited state in deuteron we are limited to study the nuclear for only in l=0 and S=1 state only. This information is very limited. SO WHAT IS NEEDED To study the nucleon -nucleon interaction in different configurations i.e. for different values of l and s we perform nucleon - nucleon scattering experiments. In the Scattering experiments beam of nucleons is scattered from target nucleons. So that we can study the properties of different scattering state formed during the scattering of particles. Scattering experiments concluded that nuclear forces are 1. Spin dependent 2. Show exchange character 3. Attractive as well as repulsive in nature 4. Charge independent 5. Charge symmetric
