I am writing to express my interest in the position for the HIV/STD prevention program. I came
across this opportunity online and would love to bring my experiences and skillset to your
organization.

I am currently majoring in Community Health Education at California State University, Long

Beach and will be finishing my degree this May. I am a highly motivated individual who is
determined as well as adapts quickly to changing environments. Applicable skills to this position
include the ability to prepare grant reports, analyze and evaluate data to assess trends, develop
health communication strategies, and develop intervention and prevention materials. Other
valuable skills include the ability to work efficiently and effectively in both a team and
individual work environment, manage and lead a team, and maintain proper standards.

These skills have been learned through my internship, work experiences, as well as the courses
throughout my education. An example of where I’ve applied these skills is in a health education
program on driving under the influence of cannabis that I collaborated on with a few of my
colleagues. This program focused on educating college students at California State University,
Long Beach on the risks and consequences of driving under the influence. This project required
conducting a needs assessment, creating a budget, developing health promotion materials, and
finally pilot testing the program for one day at my college campus.
