Determine the goals and questions

The goals of the mobile reading application for evaluation are listed below, I have asked my

colleague and fried Asad to handle the user evaluation based on the following questions:

1. To know the target market for the mobile reading application

2. To gain awareness about the popularity of the mobile reading application

3. To identify the possible competitors in the market for the mobile reading application

The questions for evaluation of the mobile reading application are formulated below:

1. What is the target market for the mobile reading application?

2. How to gain awareness about the popularity of the mobile reading application?

3. Who are the possible competitors in the market for the mobile reading application?

Choose the approach and methods

It is adequate to use the observation tool as a method to evaluate the usability of mobile

reader application. The reason behind selecting this method is to observe the possible

behaviour from the users of the application. The selected method and approach by Asad has

helped the research to determine the reviews and opinions of the selected mobile application.

He highlighted the possible limitations or setbacks of the mobile reader application in the

perceptions of the users. The competition status of the application will also be notified for the

selected application.

Plan the data collection.

The data collection is planned considering the use of the selected mobile application. The

possible method to collect the data will involve the social media platform. Asad has observed

that the usability of the application is required to be reviewed according to behaviours of the
4

users of the mobile reader application through the online platforms. There was no

confidential information about the reading application from Asad so he was able to handle a

fair evaluation about the application. He found his selected information feasibility because it

has helped him assess the feasibility and usability of the application from user perspective

regarding the issues that a user might face while using this application.

Address the practical issues

The practical issues that the researcher will face in evaluation of the selected mobile

application will be experienced during the process which even Asad has faced while testing

the application. However, it is appropriate for the researcher to brainstorm the possible issues

to evaluate the usability of the selected application. The possible issue has also included the

reach to the target users or audience to obtain data using the observation of application testing

with Asad. Another possible issue that the researcher will face include the decision on

features of the selected application based on its usage.

Consider any ethical issues.

The possible ethical concerns to be faced during the evaluation of the mobile reader

application are needed to be considered seriously and resolved promptly to avoid further

issues. The major ethical concern will be related to the informed consent from the

participants of the evaluation. For this ethical issue, Asad has obtained the informed consent

from the participants after informing them about the reasons and background of the survey.

Also, the researcher will face the ethical issue related to the confidentiality of the participants.

For this ethical issue, Asad has not include any question asking or revealing any confidential

information of the participants.

Plan how to analyse, interpret and present the data

The collected data is analysed qualitatively to highlight the perspectives and opinions of the

respondents. The qualitative analysis will detail the possible features and uses of the selected

mobile reader application based on which the changes will be proposed. Also, the

interpretation of the data will reflect the meaning of the collected data in the perceptions of

the researcher. The interpretation will rely on the presentation of the data, which will be in

the form of the charts reflecting the percentage of the responses.

Report on Evaluation

Report your findings and lessons learned.

From the observations, Asad found that users are will use the mobile reader application with

ease and convenience. The results reflected that the users are fond of using the selected

software application frequently. They are found to be using the application not only for their

academics but also for their reading hobby. The observations also highlighted that the users

are fond of using the reader application frequently during the whole day. The frequency of
6

the usage of the application relies on the learning abilities and fondness they experienced

during their reading activity through the software application. From the results, I learned that

the use of the mobile reader application enhances the reading ability of the readers. I also

found that there are competitors of the selected mobile reader application for which the

developers are needed to enhance and modify the features and interfaces of the application. I

learned that the addition of useful features related to enhancing reading experience on mobile

devices is important to retain and attract the users.

Report on the extent to which your goals were met and your questions answered

The formulated goals and questions for this evaluation are met and answered. The questions

and goals reflected that the selected mobile application is used with the convenience. The

competition is increasing for the selected software and it is controlled through the

improvement in its features and experience of usage. For this purpose, the researcher has

identified the extent of the popularity of the selected mobile application for which the

possible marketing strategies should be considered. Also, the target market has also been

identified after observing and evaluating the software application. Such aspects have enabled

the fulfilment of the objectives and the answers to the questions. The possible issues are then

highlighted to modify the application for the convenience of the users.

Based on your evaluation, what would you prioritise for further development?

Based on my evaluation, I would suggest that the application should have classic and modern

literature as well for the readers. Also, the interface should have different themes for the users

to set on the basis of their preference or taste. It would attract the users to spend more time on

the software application. The target market should be considered before developing the

modified version of the software application, so that it would gain more popularity in the

market. The modifications should also rely on the changes in preferences and tastes of the

users to retain their attraction towards the selected mobile reading application.
7

What are the limitations of the evaluation?

The limitations of the evaluation revolve around the collection of observations as the

researcher will not be able to find the users with ease. It would be challenging for the

researcher to observe the users in shorter span to evaluate the selected software application.

Another limitation faced was related to the understanding of the data and ways to analyse it.

The analysis was challenging for the researcher as it involved brainstorming and

understanding of the topic and the software application. For this reason, the researcher

conducted thorough research to gain understanding and information on the selected

application. The limitation related to the time allocation was also present and experienced for

which the researcher needed to meet the objectives without spending sufficient time. It might

affect the validity of the observations gathered for this evaluation of the selected application.
