In the past the trend of vintage victorian 70's flower child were very popular. This was seen during the
time of the brand Gunne Sax was prominent and 70's knitwear. The widely popular styles from Gunne
Sax were Victorian, Edwardian, and medieval inspired with flounced, puffed, and laced details. Many
have frilly collars, lace mock turtlenecks, crocheted insets, pastel hues, and empire waists. The 70's
overall had a huge impact on fashion. Crochet played a huge part in the fashion styles. The popular
styles from the time included Granny Squares, Macramé, and plaid. Today the trend of vintage and
crochet is becoming more and more popular. Festival culture has pushed the 70's fashion influences to the
rest of our society. The aspect of sustainability has brought vintage back.

For this Spring/Summer 2020 forecast, we believe tie-dye is a trend to watch and will be around
for many seasons to come. Tie-dye has started to make a rise in its comeback for 2020. Starting
last summer we saw the tie-dye trend really start to take off in high-end fashion as well as
mainstream national retailers. Tie-dye today has become top choices amongst consumers,
especially printed tie-dye with graphics or cool illustrations. Some notable tie-dye garmnets for
spring 2020 include: Alton Mason neon-streaked jeans; Virgil Abloh dip-dyed leather shirt; and
Dries Van Noten’s trippy T-shirts that were seen on a few models leaving his show. Overall, tie-
dye is a fun and playful trend that we're happy to see making a come back.

We chose to study the evolution of Petit Trianon because it represents a staple color
seen throughout all the Spring/Summer collections. The hue of Petit Trianon can be
translated through the Pantone swatch; Peach Bud. It has evolved in intensity and
saturation as the years have passed. From 2017 to 2018 we see how the hue got deeper
and repeated from 2019 to 2020. It has developed to become more tinted. The color
evolution will continue in the years to come.

We chose to study the evolution of Hubba Bubba Pink because the color pink is very
popular and has changed many times throughout history. In 2017, the popular pink
color was fuchsia and then later in 2018, evolved into a pink lavender color mixed with
a powdery shade of pink. We can see that the intensity of the color decreased, and the
hue got lighter. Lastly, in 2019 the color pink can be described as nude – pastel shades,
such as the pale pink of the powder, but also in slightly brighter or baby pink tones
with a small dose of lilac, pink.  We can see from 2018 to 2019 the hue getting lighter
and the intensity decreasing and yet are similar in that they both include a dose of lilac.
