A. Lyric Analysis

In finding your dream, there will be obstacles, people tearing you down and
discouraging you, and in some point you might lose hope.

“But I
I Gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high”
Things might get disappointing at times, but you have to be strong, believe in
yourself and move past it.

“There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose”
There are always going to be hardships in life, and you’re always going to have
to get rid of them. But sometimes you just have to accept the fact that you don’t
always win.

“Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb”
Life is all about the journey (the climb) not the race to the finish. It is not about
how long it takes you to get up there, as long as you don’t give up and get there
anyway.
“The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down but
No I'm not breaking”
Those obstacles might knock you down, but be strong and move past it.

But these are the moments that

In achieving your dream, there will be experiences that you will go through along
the way, which makes you appreciate your journey more.

You have to be strong and keep moving through all of the obstacles.

 Sometimes you’re going to want to take the easy way out of things and rush
through them, but you should take your time and think about what you’re doing. It
isn’t just about what you achieve in life, but it is as important to consider the
journey that you have made to get there and to learn to appreciate the
experiences that you have been through on the way. You will be happy once you
achieved your goal, but looking at the journey that has got you there makes you
appreciate it more. It’s not about how fast you achieve your goals or what you get
when you achieve it, it’s about HOW you achieve your goals. So believe in
yourself and never give up.

B. Melody Analysis

The beginning of the song starts off very melancholy. But along the way
Miley walking towards her destination (the mountain), the tone begins to sound
much more upbeat and motivated when she reaches her halfway point.

“Ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other
side, it’s the climb, yeah!”, At this point in her song, when she is just a couple feet
away from the mountain, her tone went from completely melancholy to super
cheerful when she has reached there. With that being said, she shows us no
matter how tough the road may seem, you will eventually reach your goal.

C. Music Video Analysis

 At the beginning, Miley is walking alone through a long path with her guitar.
Her being alone comes to shows us that in your journey, you will have to
overcome the obstacles by yourself, without the help of others. Because of
the things you will conquer in your lifetime will be alone and not with the
helping hand of others.

 She was walking alone down the road, with a background of a mountain
(her destination) far ahead of her. When she says, “Every step I’m taking,
every move I make feels lost with no direction, my faith is shaking.” It
means that she’s currently fighting something difficult in her life with the
loss of hope.

 The sky was gloomy to begin with, and it began to pour raining on her. The
rain was an example on an obstacle she had to face during her walk. The
imagery and tone here allows the audience to understand how she is
comparing these examples to how life can seem like a rough road, but as
long as you keep walking and not give up you will get closer and closer to
your goal.
 After the rain, she got up and kept on walking toward the mountain. It’s
clear to see that no matter how tough things get, it is always going to be an
adventure to reach it, and it is most definitely not going to be easy. She
shows us that she’s not giving up her goal of reaching the mountain.

 When she first began walking, the sky was very gloomy, but as she
continues to walk, she comes across a lot of things you can find in nature.
She first came across a bright red rose, she slowly looks up to the sky after
picking up the rose, and it suddenly becomes filled with stars after it being
gloomy and rainy. Along with the rose, this was also a beauty factor,
because after the storm cleared up, the stars became clear in the dark
night sky. This proves to the audience that life can work the same way. If
you ever come across an obstacle, you have to keep pushing to see the
beauty that comes out of it.

 Continuing with the scenery in the video, a shooting star comes through
the sky, and at this point you can see the motivation in her smile and eyes,
that allows her to keep moving and walking towards her end goal. The
imagery throughout her whole walk tells her audience that life is beautiful
despite the challenges you have to encounter.

 The final imagery and lyric to her song to prove her point was a ray of
sunshine when she reaches the top of the mountain. Miley says, “It’s all
about, it’s all about the climb. Keep your faith, keep your faith.”, The lyrics
here are short, clear, and simple, because they say life is all about the
journey (the climb) not the race to the finish. If Miley would have raced to
the mountain after getting rained on, she would have missed out on the
nature she witnessed, such as the rose, the shooting star, and the stars. It
means that It isn’t just about what you achieve in life, but it is as important
to consider the journey that you have made to get there and to learn to
appreciate the experiences that you have been through on the way. You
will be happy once you achieved your goal, but looking at the journey that
has got you there makes you appreciate it more.
